[Cap_Peroxide]

Hey, anyone have a fix for my problem?  I installed the game, but now when I try to run it, I get the message "disc can not be found or authenticated", even though the game installed from that same disc.   I'm running Windows 7 Pro, on  the following system:

 

           Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)

           Language: English (Regional Setting: English)

           BIOS: BIOS Date: 03/25/09 09:46:13 Ver: 08.00.14

           Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU     E8400  @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

          Memory: 4096MB RAM

          Available OS Memory: 4096MB RAM

          Page File: 1907MB used, 6281MB available

          Windows Dir: C:\Windows

          DirectX Version: DirectX 11

           Video Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT  (1 GB of RAM on video card)

 

I tried patching it using the files I found on NeverwinterVault, but there seems to be a missing file, so I could only patch it up to 1.11.1152 (there's no file that goes from 1.11.1152 to 1.11.1153).  The only thing I haven't tried yet is uninstalling it completely, and re-installing it under Windows Virtual XP (I tried running the launcher file from there, but I get an error message).  

   

Any help would be appreciated!

When you get to a certain patch level, not sure which, the disc will no longer be required to play.

I tried that, ran into another problem, with the manual patcher, the upshot being that I still couldn't update the game to the point where it didn't need a disc.  I then found out that I there were a couple of expansions that I have never played, and that I could download the complete game and all the expansions from GOG.com, so I just bought and installed that version (after completely removing the old game).  Gog's version of the game works fine on my system (and only cost me 19.99).
