EDIT: Spared people the stupid gif.

Who is acting elitist here? YOU the console gamer who dismisses valid UI concerns simply because the PC is not their platform of choice? Or PC gamers for simply asking that the UI offered to them is tailored for their platform? It seems to me that some of you paint PC gamers as elitists for just about ANY comment made that is critical. Apparently we must be quiet and sit in a corner without comment or we are labeled elitists.

I have a very strong feeling that if the UI for consoles featured rich level s of information that you couldn't possibly read from 10 feet away and required accurate movement and selection that was awkward or unfeasible for a gamepad, it would be people like you opening threads up like this.

The only difference is that I'd personally be on your side in that case. UI's SHOULD be tailored to particular platforms. I say that as a developer. I'd get fired if my web applications looked the same on a desktop and on a mobile device!

So, bashing console players and blaming them for the UI is what? Egalitarian?

As mentioned, that was a bad call by the OP, but after that it's been nothing but console gamers up in arms and name calling.

How about we stop that now, and start discussing how the GUI can be improved?

Ha! But no. The comp gamers have been pretty liberal with their bashing and blaming throughout the thread.

Anyone who blames console players for anything is a fool. Console players should be able to play on consolized interfaces. If the PC players also get consolized interfaces, that's on Bio. It might actually be economically rational to do it that way, but players have nothing to do with it.

Wait a second that makes no sense ,if console gamers get a consolized UI, Why can't PC gamers have  a PC UI? Let me say the opposite of what you just said.

Even the tactics menu in DA2 on PC bothered me for similar reasons, in that it didn't give you the ability to have all the drop down menus expand like they did in Origins on PC. The more info you can have on screen at one time without having to flip through menus and screens, the better.

I would think that (DAO's expanding dropdowns) would work on console just as well with the dpad, right? (forgive me if the console version of DAO actually did that)

But in game design today, if it ain't broke, fix it anyway to impress your boss.

I'm glad I have the internet to expose me to a million complaints that would have never crossed my mind.

This "being easy to please" thing is beautiful, ya'll. Serial.

Seriously, nothing is the console player's fault, it's not even the existence of the consoles that are killing pc games, its the developers not respecting both markets that causes so many crap ports.  It just has to change.

I blame the console manufacturers for insisting that games support 640*480 displays. PC games stopped doing that in 2001 or so.

If the game only supported higher resolutions, the UIs could be more detailed and fit more information on the screen at once.

I blame controllers for the loss of the grid interface and inventory tetris. The need to support that grossly inferior input device is why we keep getting scrolling lists.

Maybe I wasn't clear. Economic rationality trumps what people deserve. PC's a minority platform, Most players will play on consoles, and it's easier for a PC player to use a console-native interface than it is for a console player to use a PC-native interface due to the control and visibility limitations of consoles. So naturally the console interface comes first, since you've gotta have it. Sometimes that's the only interface.  See, for instance, ME2 and ME3, though not ME1. A good PC interface is one of those nice-to-have things that you can, regrettably, do without. Again, see ME2 and ME3.

Ok last I heard was that there was a separate UI for PC so why are we still getting all angry at each other over this?

In the end pretty well all systems have certain limitations that can affect the other platforms.  These limitations affect how the games are designed and such.  There really is not right or wrong side of this discussion.  As long as games have to be made to include many systems compromises will have to be made.

While those articles are very interesting, they both pinpoint the foundation of high PC gaming revenues as being caused by PC-exclusive games. DotA, Hearthstone, LoL, WoW, and so on just aren't available for consoles, and they're some of the highest-selling games. And a lot of those revenues would come from MTAs on tablet games, since those are classified as PCs too.

What's relevant to this thread is not global PC revenue vs global console revenue, but rather a comparison of the sales of multiplatform games: how many of their sales come via PC, and how many come via consoles?

I agree,  My point is that PC gaming is in no way shape or form a "minority platform" it keeps growing each and every year because its an "open platform"
