To add my two cents to the reaction thread:
Personally, although I had no problems with the hand-blast AA shown before, I rather like the staff animation it's been changed to. When I think of mages on a battlefield, my mind goes to descriptions like "a whirlwind of arcanic destruction", which fits the new choice better. The fact that it's at a believable pace also helps.
The profile portraits are... different. Bioware seems to have visited two opposite ends of the spectrum with their original minimal style and their current, more aggressive take; and it seems to have polarized people's opinions. I'm hoping they settle somewhere in the middle. Not necessarily an in-game portrait like in the previous games (these new pictures do help make the companions pop out more as characters), but some artistic style between the two displayed so far.
As a final point, I'd like to congratulate and thank the developers for the stunning visuals. Not just the graphics, but the combat style as well. Some may not be too happy with the flashier animations, but I have to say the art style looks much better than its predecessors. Dragon Age: Origins, while more realistic, was rather slow and simple. Dragon Age II went too far in trying to correct that. It looks to me that Dragon Age: Inquisition has found a - if not perfect - fairly solid middle ground. Weapon swings look like they carry weight behind them, and people are moving and reacting in a much more life-like manner.
