If Miranda wasn't a man, and if Jack didn't act like a man, then sure. Tali is pretty haremish, though.

Well, I've never seen a man having his arse put so often in front of the camera. Nice to know. And if Jack's acting like a man, I don't want to know how I as man should act...

I like that everyone is conveniently forgetting the absolutely ridiculous Massacre skill from Awakening, where the warrior did the exact same animation as for Battle Cry, and everyone around him just died. That's ridiculous. Overly flashy animations that don't imply "magic power" in any way should be no issue after something like that.

I live with it just fine. You and the rest need to accept you are just a customer. Just because you recently played DAO with a Blindfold does not mean these over the top things have been there from the start, BioWare has not said anything different and have in fact stated this is the direction they are keeping.

The "I am a customer defense" loses all water when that's the clear direction of the company and you use it as a threat or a reason to act like they must conform to what you prefer.

Tell Taco Bell to stop serving what they call Mexican food because you don't like Mexican food. Its just as silly and delusional.

I have no idea what you are saying. I stated my opinion, I never told Bioware to change their games, I said I would be happier if they changed it. There is no need for you to rush to defend DA from your perceived insults. I like what I like and dislike what I dislike. I would prefer if DAI was less anime (don't kill the puppy!) style and more 'realistic', I will buy it regardless since it isn't that big of a deal to me. If you actually take the time to read a post rather than rush to defend your favorite (and my favorite as well) developer you'll notice I specifically didn't use the 'I'm a customer' routine, since that means very little from any perspective.

Since JRPG's have also been brought up, watch some actual combat from a JRPG and compare what you see to the combat vid here.

If you truly feel that the DAI combat looks much closer to this than something you'd expect from a western RPG, then I don't know what to say.

Okay. When people say like a JRPG (anyway I think that's a ridiculous comparison that assumes that all JRPG's are the same) they mean over the top moves. Not so much Final Fantasy limit breaks. Impossible or at the very least impractical acrobatics in the middle of combat.

I don't thing impossible/impractical acrobatics are exclusively or even distinctly "JRPG". Also many JRPG's try to go for more realistic combat.

That's actually from Awakening not Origins. DAA did indeed start to venture into the ridiculous animations, mostly because it was adding max level skills so they kinda needed to be over the top. At level 20 you don't want to get another generic attack, you want an awesome button attack.

No, I'm wondering where in the world you came up with that load of BS, man.

Well... Miranda is either a man, or, a deformed horse with a big ass. I base this on the most powerful, observational tool of all: sight.

But this is going too off-topic, so, yeah.

I did say Awakening in my original post. And if you want awesome attacks at level 20, what is wrong with wanting them from the start? I love the flashy attacks, as it lets me see what attack is being used by whom where at a glance, rather than pausing and looking at cooldowns/text scrolls.

I guarantee you that most people think of things like the FF limit breaks when harping on JRPG combat or comparing things to JRPG's.

My last couple of posts were not really made out of some misguided desire to "omg must defend mah animu and JRPG's ;___;", I just dislike that much like people's usage of "Mary Sue", "anime", "manga" and "JRPG" have become shorthand for "thing I don't like" which I find incredibly annoying, and I don't even play JRPG's or watch any anime.

Well at level 20 the skills you are getting should be markedly better than skills available at 1, or 10 or 15. Otherwise why on earth are they there? (Which is actually kind of funny since I almost never used the Awakening talents as a warrior beyond the passives. The actives all cost way to much for what they did.) The flashy attacks can make it easier to identify, but if you look at the combat videos of DAI it is actually harder to tell what everyone is doing because the whole screen is filled with lights and flashing things.

Well, when I say Anime I'm not saying 'things I don't like', I am saying JRPG style twirling and super flashy, impossible acrobatics combat. I love JRPGs (Mostly FF, but Bravely Default was pretty damn good), but that doesn't mean I want 'anime' style combat in DA. I like different things, and I like them better when they stay distinct, no need to mush everything together (despite that being EA's primary goal with every game released recently it seems). DBZ is an awesome anime, but that art style and combat style works best in anime, and not so well in 'western' style rpgs (in my opinion).

About JRPGs, how the combat in DA:I breaks the lore of the universe, and, my opinions on the appearance of Miranda Lawson from Mass Effect 2.

I suppose to that effect you don't like that Dark Souls uses weighty and grounded animations typically associated with WRPGs then?

I'm not saying high-level skills shouldn't be better, I'm questioning why low level skills should be boring (Unless that's not what you're saying in which case I apologize for the misunderstanding  :P )

As for the skills being hard to distinguish, I really don't see that issue in any of the combat gameplay I've seen, but that could just be personal preference.

Wouldn't simply stating that the animations are more flashy and over the top than you would like be a more straightforward way of getting your point across?

Anime is less wordy :) And to my mind it conveys the same meaning. It is in no way meant as disparaging to anime.
