Looked pretty neat in my opinion. Especially the environment. I really like that swamp-like place they're fighting in.

It was pretty short, but you can't expect them to make a 30 min demo again, so I am pretty satisfied.

Iron Bull is always being trapped in dangerous places. First he's holding his position in that E3 demo with his life, now he's trapped behind a freaking wall of fire. Dude should be paid more.

All this does is make me regret being open about stuff like this, so thanks.  Lessons learned for myself I suppose.

I would ask that you not let this experience sour you on talking openly with fans. I will not deny that there will be times where it will cause problems, but I honestly believe, on the whole, that being open (where possible) is ultimately a good thing.

Everything looks great,

... Except the mage autoattack :( loved the handblast more.

Yeah, what happened to that? Handblast was cool. I'd like if the animations had their own thing for each installment. Now they just look the same as DA2.

I don't mind the staff animations. They're way slowed down now, and I never thought they were THAT ridiculous.

The camera has indeed been improved. Looks really fun and can't wait for more.

That being said...

BioWare could you PLEASE drop the controller down and show the PC interface?!!?!?!??!

Thanks.

it could've been worse :P as a DAO fan I must say I'm a bit calmer after this short vid. I feel like I can finally sit back, relax and wait patiently till November.

And thank you for the slight sarcasm  ;)

Honestly Allan, you did the right thing by explaining it earlier. That's kind of my point, apart from you being informative a video like this, which supposedly should show of combat, should give the same information, so it is more broadly known. It is not about whether I or anyone else would like the answer, but by explaining some core mechanics, which play a large part in whether or not people will enjoy to play the game for 100+ hours. Take it for what it is - just my opinion in that I don't think this video explains combat mechanics at all, but instead on such a high level that it raises more questions than it answers.

I liked how they used their hand for most of the autoattack and still used the staff for the ground-pound. It gave use of the staff more weight without the full twirly staff routine.

Maybe there are different auto-attack options?

I'm not sure about the reviving thing.  Risks making it too hard to screw up.  Though as long as it takes a decent amount of time it'll be OK

Reviving looks like the revial from ME3 which osrta makes me think MP in some way.

Combat looks fine but im just left with two questions:

1.) Will warriors and rogues have kill animations again?

2.) What happened to the portraits? Before, they were actually pretty nice, no it just looks "cartoonish"

How so?

He raises legitimate question and concerns about the gameplay. None of which were adressed in the video while information about the actual gameplay has been very scarce overall.

I like these portraits a lot more than the other ones. The other ones were too dark and muted to easily tell who was who at a glance. These are colorful and distinctive, which really helps in the heat of battle. Plus, I feel like these showcase the personalities of the companions better.

Yeah, cause that's going to fix the trust issues after blatantly lying about previous games.

I actually love the new portraits.  And I am very pleased that the combat looks more realistic and less silly than Dragon Age 2.

I am a huge fan of tactical view.  I hope they do it justice.  So far it seems like its Ok.

I hope the next video we see is about Skyhold, and I hope its a little bit lengthier.  Awesome video, though!  Finally got to see Cole in party!

Do we really have to go down that road in this thread too?

That horse has long since decayed into a pile of bones, yet people still insist on going after it like it owes them money.

I don't like Sera's troll face.  The rest are just portraits, kind of boring but they do their job.

I see what you mean, some of the faces look a bit exaggerated. But before it was really hard to tell who was who because of the lack of color within the portraits

Was this in the video? I only saw all staff, all twirl, all the time.

It was in older videos. In this video, you're correct. I'm hoping for some clarification about what happened.

Great video. Loved seeing more of the tactical view, different Inquisitors, and the return of the DA2 mage attack animation. Combat looks like a happy medium between DAO and DA2. Very pleased.

Overall I LOVE the new portraits! Vivienne's and Iron Bull's especially.
Still stylized, but it's much easier to tell who is who at a quick glance.

The only one that bothers me is Sera, and that's because it feels like it's in a different style from the others. A trollface definitely suits her character, though!

Overall I thought it was great, and I'm looking forward to the rogue and warrior classes... I never liked the DA2 mage basic attacks, so I might just skip that class this time.  Not a huge problem since I did that in DA2 for the most part.  Another thing is that I don't really like spell trees that are seemingly dedicated to one element each...  it's too basic IMO.  DA:O had it right, putting all of the elemental (boring) magic in a single school and giving us many other spell options... oh well.

I agree that the cartoon portraits look out of place, but it's a very minor issue that I probably won't notice.

But back on the positive side, the environments looked awesome and I can't wait to explore some of them...
