I just want to see a Reaver eat someone's face. The staff animations from DA2 being back, but tempered, is a plus. The male Qunari is huge. Not as big as bull, but big enough. And tactics are back, we've known this for a while, but this video showed it off nice. In general I'm really feeling the gameplay right now. Now if only they could show off build possibilities (or even make us a calculator on the main site like Borderlands 2 had before release) and specializations.

Personally prefer these new character icons. They look aesthetically pleasing and represents their characterization quite well; with Sera having a more comical looking face and Vivianne a more serious, superior looking one.

Enjoy!
That was probably the fastest 2:44 of my life, the video felt like 30 seconds to me
It looks like Bioware managed to make the combat even better. I am super excited, November can't get here soon enough. Thanks for sharing the video, Hrungr!

I wonder if the music is for the trailer, or is part of combat music in game? I loved it. Loved the strings.
The video says this was an introduction...I wonder what's next. I'd be happy with anything, though I certainly wouldn't mind a peek at the PC interface. ![]()

I for one am glad if they changed the Mage AA back to the staff attacks from DA2.
hopefully, it also means that when mages get in melee range, they will use their staves to hit the enemy, like in DA2.
The hand blasts were cool, I admit. However, it felt like you were "neglecting" your weapon ( staff ), relegating the staff only to spells.

I'm so, so glad that weird auto attack "hand thrust" maneuver the mage PC was using in the E3 demo video seems to have been replaced with DA2-esque staff twirling. I thought the hand thrusting looked really off-putting & awkward, but didn't want to get worked up at Alpha footage; thank gawd it seems to be gone.
EDIT - aaaaand, I just basically repeated the person above me. Derp.

It was in older videos. In this video, you're correct. I'm hoping for some clarification about what happened.
I guess the mages just weren't awesome enough... ![]()

Really enjoyed the video thank you for putting it up Bioware! I must admit I miss the mage hand blast animation, but I'll survive. Cannot frakkin' wait for this game.=D

I actually much preffered the hand thrust. I don't like the idea of staffs being integral to casting and I don't like that the animation is now just a recycled DA2 one.
It's not integral. It amplifies spell casting. That's pretty much lore. Why not use a staff?

Is that the maximum zoom level of the tactical camera? I think it would be better if we could zoom out just a tad higher, just so we have a better tactical overview.
I would also like to see mouse + keyboard gameplay. It's odd that we haven't seen any of that at all.

So here's what I'm thinking about how the mage AA might work.We know that we can now move and attack at the same time. In this video you see the mage spinning their staff when either using a spell or auto attacking while standing still. In the gameplay demos you can see the mages auto attacking with hand blasts while they are moving. Now there may be some instances in those videos when they are standing still and using hand blasts and I just didn't notice it. I'm guessing mages gets two different AAs based on whether they are moving or standing still. Just a theory.

also, loving the new player icons. I can now make up who's who.........
It looks like we can change the color of the Inquisitor's "hand" icon. I' definitely going for a blue or purple icon!

as a compromise, I wouldn't have minded if mages used the hand blast as their ranged attack, then switched to a staff melee attack when up close.
that would have been perfectly fine.
Now that is a sensible compromise +1 to you good sir/ma'am.

Regarding your first comment, try and understand the underlining tone of the smiley after the sentence. I apologize if you didn't get that joke.
You're right the video shows off a lot of things, but if you have followed the previous gameplay videos and interview videos from E3, nothing was revealed or explained here, which wasn't known before. And yes, if this is all Bioware wants to explain about combat, then that is their choice. All I can do as a consumer of their products is ask for more explanation if I feel it is needed for me to make an informed choice on whether to commit to said product. What I personally would like is more detail on what I personally consider a core mechanic, which will probably take up a considerably amount of the playing time. While the overall story is indeed important, it cannot carry the game alone for all consumers, and I would like to know if the combat mechanics is something I would like.
I'm pretty sure this is the beginning of a series of videos. So I'm sure they will go more in depth with later vids we just have to be patient.

I also liked it because staves are supposed to channel magic, not produce it, according to lore. Using the staff as a melee weapon at close range is fine.
