According to this article, a baseline number of 160 humans would be needed to prevent inbreeding. But I've seen other sites say as few as 50 or 70 would be acceptable. If a clan is typically about 50-100 members, but they regularly trade members at clan meetings, then that seems like an acceptable range. Not ideal, of course, but not the worst it could be.

most clans are always taking in city elves to bolster their clan. but to be fair heretical clans may have keep the clan pure attitudes
