I don't see any particular advantage to an early taste of DAI unless you're a new player to the franchise. Is this early access also going to include early access to the dragon age keep and an ability to import your world state? A saved game without that import first doesn't really appeal.

The Keep should be out earlier than release for everyone, but I don't know if the trial would let you use it.

I could honestly care less about content if the character creator is in there. I'll just play with that.

Couldn't.

Why does PC never get cool stuff like this, early access to DLC and such? :crying:

We'd just datamine it for spoilers and torrent it.

The real question now is....

Will there be a demo? Give the EA subscribers more bang for their buck; that's fine (CC, custom builds, decisions). What about people who simply want a test drive? Give me a default PC, with default powers, and no choices. I'd still like to get my hands on a DA:I demo.

I'm saying this as an owner of a Xbox One.

I'm like 99.9% positive there won't be a playable demo.

The practice of releasing demos for AAA titles prior to launch has been on a noticeable decline lately.

Trials of new games...so...demos? That you have to pay for? Sigh

The service is far from that; you get full access to select existing EA titles at no extra charge as long as you are a subscriber. That is in addition to 10% off DLC. The early access trials are only part of it.

As a collective deal, I'd say it's quite good.

Probably because it doesn't have a big company backing it giving out bribes/advertising and such in exchange for "strategic partnerships" that push 3/4 of the bioware fans who aren't on pc to the back of the line :/

It's a rial. It won't be the full game. Either timed or along the lines of DA2 I imagine.

They could you know, actually give people trials (demos) of games without having to pay anything at all (you know like a test drive).  Tacking it on to a subscription that includes other things still means that to access the trial, you have to pay. Thus paid trials.

They get access to a "Trial" version.  I'm thinking something like an extended version of the ME3 Demo.  Maybe as much game-play as the "Origin Story" part of DAO.

Allows the player to get the feel of the game, both mechanics (inventory/combat/movement controls) and story/characters, and as everyone else has already mentioned, letting fans get their hands on the Character Creator for a few days to geek-out before plunging into their first playthroughs (which is the only thing I'd do with it if even I had an XBox anyway.)

It's usually X360 games that comes out on torrents weeks/months before release date  :D
Anyways, PC doesn't get anything early except in very rare cases is because there's is no one representing PC willing to give companies bags of money to alter the development cycle to keep other versions from coming out the same time.

Well, since EA (and many other major publishers) no longer seems to believe in public demos, it isn't surprising to me at all.

Oh wow, might i ask if there is any facts backing your claim?

Aaaand since most of the games on PC runs in windows OS, one might claim Microsoft to be the big company behind PC but then again we already know and have seen what they think about PC as a gaming platform and how important it is to them.

Well, good for Xbox users but I am a Playstation guy. I am getting a PS4 soon and will get DAI on the PS4 so this doesn't affect me. I wish EA really wouldn't do exclusives for DAI but business is business.

While the backlash is disproportionate, EA shouldn't have to wonder why they continually get the 'Worst Company in the US Award'.

Because hordes of angry 4channers and Redditors votebombed it two years in a row?

Not surprising but still a dick move that of course is summed up by "business".  Not really effecting me other than hating that its happening on principle and the fear that this is becoming the new "normal".  Bioware games are really the only EA games that I buy anyways.  I wouldn't have Origin installed if it wasn't for ME3.

Well that is marketing for you wonder how much microsoft paid ea for this...

But heh gold membership and now the subscriptions for other services being offered through xbox, are they aiming to be the king of the nickle and dime approach and so on.

But still like hard copies and pc, no real reason to ever get an xbox.

And something tells me it won't be a demo but full game.

Well this is a multiplatform game being released on PC, playstation platforms, xbox 360 & xbox one, so far only one of those platforms has received preferential treatment in regards to DAI as far as I'm aware. I find it even more bizarre that ms short change their own 360 customers as well with these deals not that it would make it any better but I guess that's the future now, mass effect will probably follow a similar path just like skyrim/fallout did last gen.

Stuff like this sometimes makes me wonder if mircosoft and ea are planning to merge or something.

I'm trying to figure out who is doing all the arm-twisting that's "forcing" anyone to do anything at all?  No one has to pay for a trial/demo/sneek-peek/early-access whatever you want to call it.

The game will be the game.  You think a US$5/month subscription isn't worth doing?  Then don't, and wait another week to play.  Simple.
