What would be pretty cool is if the N7 armour we've seen turns out to be looted, just to throw us off the scent... ![]()
Shepard's timeline or not, does everybody really want to play an N7 again?

I respect your view, but if you think that the Mass Effect series was about the military, you are mistaken. Military light, maybe, but not the military. They couldn't even define a ranking structure for the game that was consistent. Some players, me included, wanted more military in the game. We didn't get it, but that's ok as well. Personally, I don't care if you want to play as a dancer on Omega, but I wouldn't mind a return to the N7/SPECTRE theme.
For people like you, I hope that you do get to play as another race/profession. It would make the game far more interesting for folks who are uncomfortable with the military. But I wouldn't like it as much if I could no longer play military or human. Taking a page from DA: Origins, one of the reasons I cooled toward DA was because I could no longer play as a Warden or continue the romance I started with Leliana. Mass Effect was interesting for me because it allowed me to influence the game through the series because of the choices that I had made. I want more of that and I want my choices to stick. In my opinion, BioWare broke it's promise that our choices would have a direct impact on the game world. They nullified those choices with the a, b, or c approach at the end of ME3 with the original ending. I never want to see that again because it destroyed the game's premise by breaking Shepard's character and pulling the player out of the story by negating those choices.
Other things like multiple races or back stories for player characters, no problem.

Actually choices did matter in ME3 most notably at the genophage and rannoch arc's, its just some choices were handle better than others.

They didn't say they wouldn't create another soldier. They said you wouldn't get Shepard 2.0.
You can have two characters who share the same profession and who are nothing alike.
Y'all don't know that N7 means military this time...
Just give it time.

Yeah i'd prefer not to be N7.

N7 is an Alliance military vocational code. The letter represents the field and the number represents proficiency in that field. The letter N in N7 represents Special Operations personnel.
If N7 is returning it would almost certainly be military. If it wasn't it would be deviation from previously established lore.

Not entirely true. We have no idea what this next Mass Effect is going to be about, in ME3 for example, N7 could have a very different meaning, albeit it was still connect with the military. The point is it can represent different things in different times, just as many symbiols throughout history... it's also worth noting that we will certainly handle guns and stuff, so even if the character is not from a military background, it will still be a soldier type.

While it is always possible that the writers could decide that the N7 military occupational code gets adopted by some non-military people for whatever reason, I honestly hope they don't go that route. It's a little corny. It's kind of like some private security guard at Walmart calling himself a Navy SEAL or SAS.
I'm open to a non-military protagonist, in fact I think a mercenary or pirate background could be quite fun. I just wouldn't want N7 slapped on him for marketing reasons, with the writers having to come up with an in-universe reason to justify that marketing move.

Has it actually been confirmed that ME4 will have an N7 protagonist yet ? The only thing I've seen that could indicate this is a single piece of concept art. This on it's own is pretty meaningless.
I would prefer to be a privateer rather than another Alliance soldier. Basically a Mass Effect version of Han Solo or Malcolm Reynolds.

I disagree. N7 is a symbol of the franchise, and considering the freedom they have they can make it work. Well, they will try at least, considering it's there.

The only things that matter to me in the next ME are: The general feel of it (atmosphere, music, lights, etc) & a very good story ![]()

You will only get to be a N. The 7 is day one dlc, with the armour badges available through micro transactions.

Of course, if you pre-order the game early from Origin and pay an additional $15, they'll include a unique armor set and a mid-tier weapon, and an exclusive character for Multiplayer that they'll put on the market in one year and charge $5 for.

Nah, the 7 will be a timed exclusive for the XBox One. Everyone will have access to it...eventually...

... but it's not an unreasonable assumption that it'll, at the very least, be an option.

I wrote this before, going to post here too.
I wont mind playing with their story on side of Shephard as long as its not direct line of path with them.
I say this cause I realized, I am writing in cohesion with another writer on their world state, two different stories of two different people. Basically the same deal ME is doing now, one person goes one way and another person goes another. I cant be specific, I cant share anything more than I did. I didn't realize till tonight I was doing what Mass Effect writers are doing now.
They have my support and thanks for working on a new story.

I think Gamble said something along the lines of "the protagonist has something to do with N7". That could mean he is an N7, or stole the identity of an N7, or wears it as tribute to Shepard (or some other N7), or or or...

But I would certainly at least wish to continue playing as a human in the series, if not an N7. Thankfully, my desire is almost beyond a doubt going to be granted, as they'd likely never axe humans as a race.
