I can't even imagine how the hell they would pull off another galaxy mission. There isn't a Relay that would send you to another galaxy and FTL in the Mass Effect universe is nothing like the FTL in other sci-fi franchises. It would take them thousands of years to get to the next galaxy having to stop and vent the engines in an atmosphere every so often in deep space would not be possible and where would the get the Element Zero fuel?

They really need to either just establish a cannon ending and deal with it or make it far enough in the future that the ending details are lost in time.

Well as to how they get there it could be any number of ass pulls, and I don't think eezo is consumed as fuel, it just slowly decays over time.

The news headlines about ME4 taking place within the same timeline as Shep was pretty much someone's own speculation without even any big hint. Could still be true but there wasn't anything said on the panel that would confirm/point to it in a major way.

HOWEVER. Different galaxy, yeah, just watch the panel from 25 minute mark, 2 following fan question and Mike's answers are pretty telling I think

Correct. The eezo is simply used to reduce the mass, while motive power is provided by the standard engines. In order for the ship to be able to travel the great distance between galaxies, it would have to use a propulsion system that either doesn't rely on fuel somehow, or is efficient enough that a full tank can last the entire trip.

Hey, Haven’t been on the forum in a long time.

I herd about Comic-Cons panel discussion on the next Mass Effect taking place in another galaxy, set during the events of the trilogy while also focusing on exploration.

To me this sounds like somewhat good news and an interesting direction. Still the catch would be what is their mission? How did they get there? and What will things be like when they return home (our galaxy)?

I would personally find it a annoying NOT to address the Reaper war and the ME3 ending.

But anyway the news reminded me of Star Trek Voyager and how much I enjoyed the series, the focus on characters being apart of a lonely crew isolated on a journey, the ability to explore new cultures, species and a part of space. I searched the forum and some people mentioned Voyager but I was interested in what others thought of the potential comparison.

I really hope that it doesnt take place at the same time as the original trilogy. or if it does the 2nd one starts up shortly after the events of the war.

that being said I seriously doubt it will. The most likely scenario, given that theyve said its going to take place far enough away from the events of ME1-3 that it would be minimally effected by it, is that it will take place primarily in another galaxy, 50 to 100 years after the original trilogy. Based on the ending you chose (if they allow imports) you get a peaceful, war riddled or cold war as the current state of affairs, and thats all they mention of the previous trilogy in terms of actual effect coming from previous games.

Star Trek Voyager/ Stargate Universe would be a good setting for the next Mass Effect. It would be something like finding another Omega 4 type relay or from the wiki an Asari Matriarch once suggested that the Asari should build new mass relays of their own. Since they were hiding a Prothean beacon they could have the knowledge to build one.

They could run an exploration mission through an Asari build relay, something goes wrong during travel and get propelled into another Galaxy.

The ending of ME3 did write themselves into a corner. If it was a straight ending with no 3 choices they could find a new evil race behind a dormant Relay but that is not possible now. If a new race was dicovered during the ME1-ME3 timeline there would be news about it somewhere in the game.
