It would be interesting if there are in fact choices that the player can get wrong and lead to their downfall.

The raaaage would be overwhelming.

"But I should be able to do everything I can to help the X's! Their problems are a priority... in the middle of an apocalyptic demon invasion..."

Basically, you want people who disagree with you to get screwed over.

Actually, I think this could be relevant to the Orleasian Civil War.  If you refuse to back a side, for example, then both Celene and Gaspard end up destroying each other, leaving Orlais too weak to help the Inquisition.

Could just be like JE. Hear the villian's monologue and then go, "meh, okay," then have the villian stutter a bit in shock and say, "well, okay then, great... ummm... I'll just finish up here and remove the Veil, feel free to try my latest invention, puffcorn... I'm thinking of renaming it... oh, right, on with my plan, muahahahaha!"

No, I want people who get caught up in the struggles of a single group to be caught with their pants down. Or people who turn down needed forces because they can't be bothered to pick a side.

That this accurately describes your position is merely a coincidence.

So you only want people to be rewarded if they play like you do.

I think he's saying he wants the Inquisitor actually doing his job to be rewarded

Playing like me is its own reward, whether the game agrees or not is its own problem.

Why should the Inquisitor be beholden to Orlais?

because picking sides and bedfellows shouldn't be "I just pick my own favorites then leave the rest to rot"

The Inquisition is not some charitable organization going around helping the downtrodden, its a means to the end of restoring order, and helping an Orlesian faction will go miles towards that goal, troops, supplies, political support, etc...

For the same reason the Warden had to be somewhat caring about Fereldan, I assume. However, Warden didn't have to love Fereldan, I assume the same for the Inquisitor.

We both know that's not what I said, stop mischaracterizing.

Its an apocalypse, giving every elf a hug takes a backseat to saving the world. Even a diehard Dalish should be able to see that.

Helping people who are in need and stopping the Breach aren't mutually exclusive.

yes, but when those you help are then in no position to further help you it kind of becomes pointless

if by "people who play like you do" you mean "aren't going into the game only focusing on one issue and hang the rest"

the Inquisition is going to have its thumbs in a lot of pies, and inordinate attention on one should have repercussions

Technically, everyone is in need. The elves have Eluvians. Eluvians can help. This was mentioned a page ago. Let's not get into dalish stuff unless it relates to the topic.... which is already derailed, anyway... meh, whatever.

So you want to play as an Inquisitor who doesn't provide any assistance or aid to any humans, dwarves, and elves who aren't beneficial to the Inquisition?

Until we're able to properly ascertain the situation, I'd rather not make any assumptions about what's necessary to restore order.

Basically, like I played a Warden whose first concern was not giving the beggars money, but getting armies together to fight the Blight

Further de-stabilizing massive nations is probably not on that list

I'm fairly certain most people have numerous issues that matter to them, but I'm not surprised the issue of Orlais is brought up in a thread that focuses on a book where Orlais is the primary setting.

the Inquisition is going to have its thumbs in a lot of pies, and inordinate attention on one should have repercussions

I imagine each player would have their own perspective on how resources and manpower should be allocated. I'm not of the opinion that players should be punished for wanting to help disenfranchised groups who need assistance.

Jesus Christ people. Can we quit with the potshots at each other?

Perhaps get back on to topic?
