Without romance, the world would be a very boring place. :)

Would any of you buy a BioWare game without romances?   I'd pay to see some responses to that question.

Absolutely. If it was otherwise appealing, promised a good story and roleplaying etc.... Romance is a nice bonus to have, but it's a bonus, which means it's nonessential to my enjoyment of the games. If I want it badly enough in any specific case, I will imagine there to be one with the "target character".

Games are like anything else, I might buy it without romance, but the standard for a successful game has evolved to include a lot of things and I have an expectation that those things will be included or I am less likely to play that game. We are a long ways from pong.

Most definitely. I wouldn't miss the romances if they weren't there.

Truthfully I feel that the friendship and camaraderie that you cultivate, the bond between brothers and sisters-in-arms, is far more appealing to me as opposed to the romance.

It is simultaneously more profound and more rational than romantic bond. So in my canons that is what I like to do.

This is a situation where you can have your cake and eat it too, though. Some of the best relationships started off with a deep friendship followed by sexual attraction. This is particularly why I like the Tali and Garrus romances in Mass Effect: nothing in ME1 except a lasting platonic bond (at least, for Shepard's part) and then in ME2 it's like, "you stuck with me when others wouldn't. Why is that?" and it goes from there. Compare this to Liara's ME1 romance, where almost immediately there is a strong mutual attraction according to Liara (due to the melding I suppose) without much time to establish if there's anything about each other's personality that's attractive, and without any shared experiences to strengthen the bond.

For that reason I disagree that friendship bonds are more profound than romantic bonds. I don't think it's mutually exclusive, at least not in a lot of cases.

As for no romances? My canon Hawke is no-romance. It was simply the best story for her, since based on her family history and the events of the game I wanted a situation where Hawke was ultimately isolated and alone, with friends who desperately wanted to help her but with which she couldn't connect. DA2 is a tragedy to me, and I think no-romance can best reflect that (for the female LIs. If you romanced Anders that's probably even more tragic).

Each of their own. I thought Hawke relationship with Bethany was stronger then any potention romance in the game (never liked Carver much).

I have never done a single romance in a bioware game, and never will. People getting all worked up about the final two romances, and which race they will ****... it's so WEIRD. At least, to me. But that seems to be the minority opinion.

Yep. Most games don't have romance content anyway, at least not one that you have a direct control over. In a lot of ways, I expect to see romance content included in Bioware games because few others even attempt it so it really feels good when you have an actual choice in the matter. So while I'd most definitely prefer there be romance content, it's not the sole primary selling point of their games.

I've skipped out on romances plenty of times. Sometimes my character just doesn't want a relationship , doesn't have time for it, OR just isn't interested in the characters.

That being said, They're well written parts of the game so I do prefer to do them.

DA2 was the best game of DA series in the terms of romance options..for  2 human Hawkes who live in Kirkwal we have 2 elves and we have 2.5 humans..and all of them was really different in many terms

2 males and females of each race..

2 mages 1 human male and 1 elf female

and 2 nonmages-warriors 1 human female and 1 elf male and 1 Sebastian

DAI is the worst

we have 8 Inquisitors(2 humans and 6 non-humans) and 2 kingdoms

and we have

for males

Cassandra-straigt human female-pro Orlais/Templars/Chantry

Vivienne-straigt human female--pro Orlais/Templars/Chantry

Dorian-gay human male-exile with shame from Tevinter

for females

Cullen-straigt human male-pro Orlais/Templars/Chantry

Solas-straigh elf male-apostage without Dalish of City elfs relationships

Sera-gay elf female(the only non-human female)-city elf rebellinon

for all

Josefine-bi human female- Antivan noble and old girlfriend of lelianna -pro Orlais/Templars/Chantry,

Iron Bull-bi kossith male-Qunari spy

and 2 of them(exept damn Bull who is bigger than male kossith but he still can bang with all) would be race gated

I would love to know where you learned that Josephine(not Josefine) is Pro-Orlais/Templars/Chantry. Also I'm assuming by girlfriend, you mean the platonic kind right?

If half of them weren't so awkwardly written, like say most of them in TOR, or the Mass Effect ones then I'd be more intrigued with romance. I like love stories in games, some of my favorite games involve a love story as a central factor of the narrative. In relation to BioWare, however, I feel they've become a bit token and the actual depth of these 'romances', that is to say the chemistry and dialogue exchanges, have degraded significantly in quality. I think there were some really good ones in Jade, ME1 & Origins, but not so much with recent titles. I don't care if they are in the games, because there are always a large number of peeps who get some sort of enjoyment out of them, so all the more power to them of course.

In recent time with BioWare I generally approach these romances with careful consideration, as to whether I believe there's merit to them enough to even bother pursuing it. If I like a character alot then I'd probably pursue something more to open certain opportunities for further development but I don't feel romances have done this with recent BioWare titles. But that's my prerogative.

Lets see....

18 play throughs. 9 of each gender. Assuming we have 6 romances......4 for each gender....probably not. Not because I am so in love with romances either. Just because there are so many options that I want my Inquisitors to cover. I'm actually hoping the final 2 gated romances aren't bisexual because of it. XD (though in reality I hope they are... :P )

I didn't romance anyone in DA2.

The way that I personally saw it.  I can have the town bike, the undercover brother, or a childish and clueless blood mage.

I went with none of the above.

I need to see AAAAAALLLLLLLL the content, so I play them. And recently I've had a couple of Mass Effect 1 & 2 playthroughs where I didn't romance anyone (waiting for Kaidan/Steve), and... it felt really weird.

I am a lover of love.  I always do a romance in every play through.  Can't help myself.  I see it as an extra layer of character interaction that I don't get to see in other games.  So I always take that extra step.  I think the real question you should be asking is...

Would any of you buy a BioWare game without romances?   I'd pay to see some responses to that question.

Same here, can't possible do a nomance play through.

I might, if the LIs I'm most looking forward to aren't of the few chastemances BW has mentioned during the GaymerX panel. But then again I'll probably end up making one of my many acequisitors aro as well, and she'd definitely want to build herself a big, happy +100 approval Inquisition family.
