I for once was relieved. Not only do they get to polish the game more, but if Dragon age Inquisition got released in october it wouldve been mid-semester at my university. In other words, I would probably have failed atleast one of my exams due to DA:I having consumed several 24/7 weeks of playing.

With the new release date (21st of November for us europeans) the timing isnt just good, it is perfect - as my exams are likely in the 24th-12th of nov/dec.

Just wondering if anyone else here got as lucky as I did? :D Be it studies, work or other factors.

Yeah, maybe I didn't word that very well - the initial concern I had about the delay was basically that there must have been a significant number of bugs because I somewhat pessimistically assumed that 'polishing' was partly PR-speak for bug-fixing. But I suppose 'polishing' could just mean making good bits of the game even better, rather than fixing things that are bugged.

Polishing is basically bug fixing.  Bug fixing is making the good bits of the game even better too, though, since they won't have bugs in them.

I can understand your concern because "whoa there's lots of bugs" and that's a perfectly valid thing to think.  If our game was pretty much done for bugs at this point, we'd be releasing on October 7th.  But an extra 5 weeks or so can go a long ways.

We do want the game to be a quality, enjoyable experience for people, and getting as much time into the wide array of branching/variation that exists in the game will help with that.

Thanks for the clarification. This, coupled with the fact that DA2 was virtually bug-free for me (save for a couple of import glitches that I believe were actually caused by the way DA:O stored data on choices) has definitely reassured me about how polished DA:I will turn out to be.

If it means anything, my other main concern about the delay was the thought of all the poor devs who needed a well-deserved break/celebration on Oct. 7 and then found out they had to slave over their desks for another 5 weeks. Kind of puts it in perspective for the rest of us.

I'd love to be done in October.  But I'm still in favour of the time extension because it'll still mitigate stress while on the actual project.

I'm closing this thread because I'm finding it misleading.  I think many people are okay/understanding of the delay, but that few people are going to be "happy" about the game itself being delayed, because ideally they'd love a flawless and perfect game tomorrow.  THAT would make people happy.
