No, I can't say I'm happy about it.
Anyone else happy with the november postponement?

I'm cool with it but not necessarily happy with it. I all for more time to polish the game and all but I would of been fine with it coming out October 7th. But again, I'm cool because I got a lot of games to catch up on.

I am happy that the game has been delayed - it just means it'll be better.
However, I was initially concerned about why the game needed to be delayed. Really though, bugs were only a minor problem for me in DA:O and a total non-issue for me in DA2, so I'll trust Bioware on this one. In any case, bugs generally don't bother me unless they prevent me from being able to finish the game or are manimals.
I don't understand this mentality. If this game had come out in October and you didn't have time to play it then, you could just have waited until you did have time. Releasing in November means that EVERYBODY, even those who would have had time to play it in October, have to wait. So why are you rejoicing that other people have to wait like you? That's the most selfish thing anyone can say, "I wouldn't been able to play it in October so I'm glad that now EVERYBODY has to wait until I have time to play it."
I don't understand why people can't just wait to do something instead of wishing that the possibility of doing it be delayed until they are able to.
If the OP was so immune to the feelings of others, why start a thread asking the rest of us how we feel?

Happy? No, I was already pretty antsy with the original October release. But I'd rather deal with the waiting and let Bioware have more polish time than to have them rush the game out the door riddled with bugs.
I'm looking on the bright side though; I've been focusing on losing weight this year, and setting motivators to keep me on my goals. My major motivator is Inquisition - I'm not allowed to play it until I've lost 45 pounds from my starting point (that's about 20.4 kg for those of you on the metric system). I'm now about 12 pounds (5.4 kg) away from that goal. Though I'd likely hit that by October, it's kind of nice to have a little bit of extra breathing room, so to speak.
At this rate, I might actually need some stretch goals, heh.
Thats a great way to motivate yourself. I hope you manage to reach your goal ![]()

We already was spoiled all companions. We even know all companions personality's and some other important stuff.
All locations is known.
Some plots of game are known.
We know beginning of games.
There not much left to spoil really.
Spoiler
A few very broad characterizations and some carefully pruned videos do not spoil the game. And knowing the potential party members and some important NPC's is far from unprecedented and even farther from spoiling.
I honestly don't think DAI will be that big a deal. I mean, it is to avoid competition in October that the game was pushed back, so EA obviously does not consider DAI to be as big as those other games. While it might be possible to come across major spoilers browsing video game related sites or even general sites, I highly doubt that that would be the case.
I remember hearing about the ME3 ending fiasco long before I got to the end, I even still kept coming to this site but I was never explicitly spoiled. And that's the kind of MAJOR spoiler that you could possibly see on non-gaming related sites (business sites, general culture sites), yet even then all I had to do to avoid being spoiled was avoid the actual topics discussing it.
Not only that, but even if you can play it the day it comes out, you could still come across spoilers farther into the game than you are simply because other people have more time/don't do all sidequests/advance quicker in the game than you do. There is always a risk and that risk doesn't go away just because you can play the game when it releases.
I find that argument to be rather thin for being happy a game is pushed back..
Playing it from the release puts you in he eye of the storm, in a sense. While everyone is diligently Inquisiting from the starting line, few of us will be reporting, posting, reading or chatting about what we've done. And avoiding the outliers amongst use that are able to extremely quickly play through the game, is certainly easier at the beginning, I'm sure you can agree.
In a month though, it will be almost impossible to avoid spoilers without avoiding this site entirely and other venues players may routinely frequent. That's a genuine concern, especially, with a game that branches like Bioware's. You say the spoilers didn't effect you, but they were at least passively bothersome for me. I didn't play DA:O until well after it was released. By the time I picked it up, I had what I thought was a dim enough notion about the game. However as I played it, I found myself making selections or decisions based on the limited information I'd come across on the boards unintentionally. It's not that I was actively looking for info about the game, but I'm sure I would have left Sten in that cage if I hadn't spotted a thread title about him. I'd avoided looking into the thread, but the seed had already been planted.

They said they just wanted more polish, so I dont think there is any grand conspiracy behind that beyond that point.
And yeah I was just stating that for me personally the timing is good, but I made this thread because Im curious how the delay fits into other people's lives here for better or worse.

Nope. It was not received as good news by me in any shape or form. I may appreciate the extra bug squashing when the actual game comes out, but at this time I am very disappointed.

I'm okay with it. Novembers are typically a very stressful time for me, so it will be nice to have something to escape into for a while. Plus, I'll be out of school at that time, so I can really afford to settle in and play the heck out of it.

Yeah, maybe I didn't word that very well - the initial concern I had about the delay was basically that there must have been a significant number of bugs because I somewhat pessimistically assumed that 'polishing' was partly PR-speak for bug-fixing. But I suppose 'polishing' could just mean making good bits of the game even better, rather than fixing things that are bugged.

No I'm not happy. I would've liked it if the game was released earlier, polished and everything, but you can't win all the time.
And if it was released Oct 7, it would just distract me because that's when I usually take my midterms, which will most likely be hard as hell. But I guess November isn't really the ideal time for gaming, for me anyway. Final exam season.
Ugh, why can't games be released during the summer or late spring? When I can actually play them without worrying about work or university.

I can understand your concern because "whoa there's lots of bugs" and that's a perfectly valid thing to think. If our game was pretty much done for bugs at this point, we'd be releasing on October 7th. But an extra 5 weeks or so can go a long ways.
We do want the game to be a quality, enjoyable experience for people, and getting as much time into the wide array of branching/variation that exists in the game will help with that.

Thank you.
I figured food motivators would be counter-intuitive, and since I'm a big gaming and comic geek, I opted for my entertainments to push me instead. I allow myself to purchase a new volume of Fables for every 5 pounds lost, and I made the Inquisition goal based on my current weight loss rate when the original October release was announced. That's when my fiance knew I was very serious about keeping the weight off.
Now whenever I feel myself getting lazy or too passive about it, I think of having to wait even longer to play Inquisition, and that usually gets me on to push that extra mile or pass on that second cookie.
More on topic though:

Because there's a conspiracy by the gaming industry to derail university students. No, really. Origins came out a month before my graduation, right when I was in the middle of my senior project and final exam studies. During that last month, I was hooked to the screen and played five complete runs of Origins despite my academic obligations. BioWare's leading young adults astray with their wily ways, I say!
I still managed to complete my project ahead of time and ended up on the Dean's List despite the hook of Origins, but that's besides the point...

Sure. Game development takes time. If the guys and girls and BioWare need or want the extra time to polish the game and fix bugs, they can take all the time they need. Bug fixing this side of release is much easier, cheaper and less time consuming than doing it after, as I understand it.
So yeah, a better game makes for a happier me.

I'm genuinely happy about that delay, it's just one month, and I think I could have taken two, not too much though, hehe. Not sure if I could take a "Q1 2015" delay... don't want to jinx it. I'd just like to know what happened though, was it "just BioWare" themselves whom decided and then told EA about it? Or was it EA knocking at BioWare's door asking them if they needed more time? We'll probably never know, lol. Anyway, yeah, happy about it, the more time they have the better.

Thanks for the clarification. This, coupled with the fact that DA2 was virtually bug-free for me (save for a couple of import glitches that I believe were actually caused by the way DA:O stored data on choices) has definitely reassured me about how polished DA:I will turn out to be.
If it means anything, my other main concern about the delay was the thought of all the poor devs who needed a well-deserved break/celebration on Oct. 7 and then found out they had to slave over their desks for another 5 weeks. Kind of puts it in perspective for the rest of us.

No, I mean it's not a big deal but I am guessing the change of date came from above. They have been working on this game for a long time (which is good) and I think the change in date had more to do with marketing and sales then it did finishing up the product and ironing out the kinks. With that said they can take advantage of the extra time given to them to really make sure things are polished.

Not happy about it,but I understand. ![]()
I took vacation in October for DAI,which is pointless now.Would love to switch my vacation to November, but it's not allowed.I work in retail and the bosses wont let us off in November or December, because that's our busiest time of the year.
It's going to be really hard for me to go to work, when I rather play DAI.Oh well I guess it will take me longer to play through. ![]()
