I've been holding out for the whole "you are the big bad" plot twist for awhile now. Part of me thinks it'd be absolutely fantastic story wise, but the other part doesn't want it because of all the angst it would cause me.

You have to kill your LI to save Thedas!

Woah there, Satan.  :P

The Inquisitor is Flemeth, they just lost their memory.

Flemeth trained the Inquisitor to fight, but left a fatal flaw in their technique.

Flemeth built the Imperial Highway, guiding the development of all the nations.

Flemeth is turning people into dragons.

Flemeth made the dragons to stop the golems taking over, it was the only logical solution.

Flemeth is in the Inquistor's mind.

Flemeth was the Inquistor's sleigh.

Flemeth is made out of people.

Flemeth gets on the dragon with Alistair, not the Inquistor.

Flemeth has a twin.

Flemeth is drowning herself every performance.

Flemeth gave her wife the idea to commit suicide.

Flemeth is dead.

I'd find some kind of reveal about the Black City interesting. Beyond that anything involving the Fade has some potential for some mind bending illusions, though that could be easy to overdo.

Here are some of mine:

1. The Urn of Sacred Ashes was placed at the temple for a reason, the reason being to prevent the breaches/fade tears, and its removal has caused the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

2. Maferath (Andraste's mortal husband) is the big bad and he was imprisoned in the fade by the Maker for betraying Andraste, he is attempting to free himself from the fade and make his way back to Thedas and is leading the demons. The demons have come to see him as a symbol of sorts due to his betrayal of Andraste, which is why most obey.

3.The Warden and Hawke were captured by someone who is siphoning their power to open the fade rifts. The Warden's power being the taint or somehow related to it and Hawke's being the immense magic energy within (it was present, but untapped if the player Hawke wasn't a mage). Their death's are the only way to permanently close the breaches.

Warden and Hawke being siphoned for power?

That doesn't work at all unless both of them are Mages as there's no power to leech off the Warden and Hawke that aren't as such.

And once again, Bioware killing off the players Warden and Hawke with such a weak plot excuse that doesn't care at all for the players previous actions and choices? That would be worse than the outrage of the ME3 ending since at least there you got to choose a color.

I've got a small worry about the inquisitor being the cause of the tears, too, especially when one of the devs said in an interview something along the lines of "the best villains are the ones you can relate to."  I know the quote's wrong, but I think that was the general gist.  I'm really hoping you're not right.

Someone on the Inquisition is going to betray. There's just no way that whole last supper picture of the Inquisition is a coincidence. And, if they use the real last supper picture as reference, then, either Cole or Solas is going to be the one betraying, because they are around the area Judas was sat.

It also makes some sense, because both Solas and Cole are connected to the Fade. One in a literal sense, and the other in a...academic, not-so-literal sense.

Frankly after the constant betrayals in DA2 I could do without that aspect...and without the Jesus and his 12 disciplines angle. It's done to death.

You do know BioWare has done things to death since the beginning of time, right? They have a formula they seemingly like to follow for their games (which there is nothing wrong with, because you know it's a BioWare game that way, just by seeing it), so...

Andraste is really Flemeth. There was never a golden city, it was always black, the Maker is really the trickster god Fen'Harel.

I'm still holding on for a disillusioned 'there are no heroes left in man' Warden to be the main charismatic bad guy, the reveal of which causes (depending on how DAO went) Leliana, Alistair, Sten (if he turns out to be Arishok), etc. to swap sides and try to gank you at the reveal.  Bonus if the final climactic boss fight is on top of a collapsing building as they're trying to fight their way to kill the OGB (or Morrigan, I guess if you didn't DR).

But this seems fairly unlikely.

In the realms of possibility is them pulling a KotOR (No Inquisitor, YOU are the Demons) and something about the Maker being a douchebag.

I am  not sure about the Inquisitor being the 'main bad guy'. In your character's case in KOTOR, the Jedi messed their memories up in order for them to forget they were Revan.

...Then again, if there is a Big Bad spirit or if FLEMETH is involved... That would make things interesting to say the least...

In the end, regardless of your choices made in all three games, you will be teleported back to Flemeth's Hut. Flemeth will pour you some darkspawn blood and say that her solution to end the conflict between mages and templars by resurrecting an Old God failed, and she needs you to push a random button to make things right. She cannot do it herself because Morrigan stole the Manual. So, it is up to you to decide the Fate of the Thedas and Beyond.

If you push the red button, all demons, half-demons, 10%-demons, your abomination BFF, the blood mages etc will die in the massive red explosion of the Fade. If you push the blue button, you will become a Spirit of Something and you will be able to control the demons, mages and templars after a massive blue explosion of the Fade.

If you push the green button, there will be no more mages or templars or demons or whathaveyou: only happy magetemplodemoqunodwarvoelvohumanoids. Naturally, after a massive green explosion of the Fade, that goes without saying.

plot twists:

Templar with a brain (sometimes used, but preferably one that isnt killed off, and cullen doesnt count cause hes no longer templar)

Mage who isnt like anders (whining about how bad the circle was, understood the argument, but just tired of hearing it)

Celene, gaspard, and briala are murdered and we have to play the "game" to investigate.... sandal is a suspect

Dorian's mustache is fake

That upstart captain thamond from the inquisition troops in crestwood is the one who betrays us, not any major character

Avernus's research was actually about creating hybrid dragon griffons, and the inquisition is attacking the wardens cause we want that awesomeness

Viviene is actually sandal in drag

Turns out the whole glowey hand thing has nothing to do with the fade, but the bad fried nugs you ate the night before

Canada has figured out how to move their country to thedas, and thats actually where all qunari (the kossith kind) are from

Oghren is actually the main protagonist of the game, but you dont play as him till the last five minutes

Divine justina is the big bad boss

The cowboys will win more than 8 games this year.... wait a minute.....
