Pre-order Standard vs. Deluxe

I apologise if someone's already asked this but I've been searching for an hour and can't find an answer.

If I'm going to buy the deluxe edition what's the perk of pre-ordering? Everything I've found suggests that the pre-order bonuses for the standard edition are the same as the content to be included with the deluxe edition. So is the only advantage that I save the $10?

I'm torn here because while I love extra content (who doesn't), I much prefer physical copies of games to digital downloads. I haven't been able to find a compelling reason (aside from cost) why I shouldn't just get a physical PC deluxe copy from my local store, rather than do a pre-order of the standard edition through origin.

Also is there any advantage to pre-ordering deluxe as a download rather than just buying a physical copy?

Somebody help me out here?

Thanks

I think the only thing the two pre-orders share is the Flames of the Inquisition gear. Otherwise, the deluxe edition (both digital and physical) has other stuff included, like mounts, the Skyhold throne, soundtrack, plus stuff not announced yet.

If you're in the US, you can pre-order the physical deluxe edition on Amazon. Otherwise, if you wait and buy it in store, you'll only be missing out on the Flames of the Inquisition gear.

I don't believe there are any pre-order bonuses through Origins. The deluxe content is exclusive to the deluxe edition.

Where are you ordering from? It might be a specific retail.

I'm in Canada. Our retailers have NO details about what the difference is between the games.

spacediscosaurus You're sure the Flames of the Inquisition is pre-order only and not part of the regular deluxe?

The pre-order content is the "Flames of the Inquisition" equipment back. Its standard for both standard and deluxe.

The deluxe also includes new mounts, thrones, and other digital goodies.

There is no direct "perk" to pre-ordering the Deluxe edition because the Deluxe edition already contains all 3 of the pre-order items. That said, with the digital version, you can pre-load the game a few days before so that on launch day it is just an unlock and play. No need to drive to a store, just wake up and play. That of course depends on you internet connection and if you have the speed and lack of download caps and an affordable rate. For some it is faster to go to the store and install off the discs.

Standard and Deluxe compare chart, if you are interested.

Edit: The 3 different Flames of the Inquisition items listed there are the 3 different pre-order items, all of which are included in the Deluxe Edition.

Ah, my mistake. I didn't realize that the Flames gear was always included with the deluxe edition. Thanks!

My only concern with that chart, is it looks like it's talking about the pre-orders. It doesn't makes a distinction between what's a pre-order bonus and what's in the box. I'm really quite frustrated.

Wait a second, I'm confused now. I'm from Canada too... I have the deluxe edition in preorder from Amazon for PS4. Is the the deluxe edition exclusive only for Digital Downloads of the game? Or is this on physical copies to. To my understanding, it's a physical copy i've preordered. Can someone clarify please?

As the multiple threads in the Feedback forum demonstrate, Europeans (don't know about Canada) cannot order the physical deluxe edition for PC, and only PC. Pre-orders for consoles are available for everyone, as far as I know.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for the clarification.

Would you happen to know when they'll be releasing information on the 'bonus digital content' that comes with the Digital Deluxe Edition? A number of people asked when the DDE was revealed and I believe all the devs could tell us then was 'We'll let you know later.'

You are right; it is a little confusing. The Deluxe Edition contains all 3 pre-order items for all time, as a pre-order or not. The Standard Edition will contain the Flames of the Inquisition Arsenal only if you pre-order it via Origin or participating retailers.

The Deluxe Edition is for both physical and digital on all platforms in Canada.

I know there is a date for this information in the marketing plan, but I don't know it off-hand. Another month, as a wild guess.

Speaking of the unannounced stuff for Deluxe Edition, when is that revealed? I need to know this pre-ordering!

Though if I were to guess... since you haven't talked about multiplayer yet, I think the secret thing for Deluxe is something related to that, like early access to a new map pack or something.

Lock Pick set. Break into Bioware and check out the new IP in production.
