The dwarven commoner is not a bad origin. It's not my favorite, but it is definitely up there.
If you play the Dwarven Noble, you almost instinctively want to side with Harrowmont later in the game, but the dwarf commoner gives the opposite reaction and you want to side with Bhelen because your sister becomes his mistress, and she bore him a son. Going against Bhelen will be, in a sense, going against your sister and sending her, your mother, and your nephew back to the streets.
But there is one thing about this origin that really stuck out to me. It, somehow, made it easier for me to make decisions I wouldn't otherwise have done with other Origins because the character you're playing as is already a criminal, a thug for a crime-boss, and you are pretty much required to be tough, especially if you roleplay your character a bit.
It was only as a dwarven commoner that I had the heart to side with the templars in Broken Circle because...well, I'm not sure why. It's like, something he would do based on how I was roleplaying him.

For a male cousland it's: The youngest cousland! All grown up and still trying to fit into daddy's armour!
Or something like that
Yeah he made the spitfire comment and playing a man lines on my fem. She finished him off with the 2hd sword to the gut animation. I imagine she enjoyed that. Particularly turning her back to that snake and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it except die.
