I know how to volus, thank you very much. This doesn't change the fact that most of them suck.

By the way, I find it interesting that your least favorite one is the only one with actually a set of decent powers...

With Spitfires, of course :P

Hey why not !

I have some good memories with the volus, including a full team game with them on London / geth / platinum. One of my friend, who still hates volus, sucked massively and was downed constantly lol. I let you imagine how messy it was to revive him with the geth stunning fest...

Disabling the most horrible devices on Hydra, while three volus do their heavy melee to protect their teammate, was fun too. And I will probably never forget the first time I saw a volus being downed in the big incline of Condor :D !

They are good teammates (inb4thebestsupportistokillennemies)!

I appreciate that Bioware created supports kits, it increased the possibilities of gameplay.

I agree however with some other posters that having four of them (but only 2 salarians) is weird.

Support class... >_>

On a serious note, I play offensive volus only. I don't have time shield boost my team mates, and if they're weapon get locked, great!

Powers are relative to your playstyle. If you tailor your playstyle to the character you are using then I don't think there is a character that doesn't have decent powers for the style that bioware had in mind.

Some power combinations can be very restrictive *coughnovaguardcough* and if you don't like the style they restrict you to, you'll consider them rubbish or 'lacking synergy', but that doesn't mean that someone else hasn't found the sweet spot and can wreak havoc across the battlefield.

It's all about who's pushing the buttons, not what the buttons do

i like playing volus. but wish they also had a modified biotic charge along with tactical cloak.

upper-ward biotic charge -> float in the air for 5 sec -> shoot -> like a true biotic god

Given the fact that "Volus for MP" used to be more like a running gag than anything else they are extremly well done and perfectly fill the niche of a support class.

They are not hated for being Volus, they are hated mostly fpr this stupid little bug when players can't shoot/use powers etc. after they got hit by shieldboost. The only way to resolve this is heavymeleeing.

So, yeah, a shieldboostspamming Volus ca get really annoying.

When I say "they suck" I don't mean that no one can do good and wreak havoc with them. Totally possible to do that.

I mean that when someone does good with them, it's never going to be as good as some other good player playing a good kit.

If they were somewhat fun and interesting lore-wise, maybe I'd play them more. But they are not, so the only reason I play them from time to time is for the lulz.

Of course, the fun part is totally subjective, so... I'm glad to know there are people who find them fun, so they're not a complete waste of developers money and time..

Volus have an inherent 50% Bonus to Cuteness. Who can hate them?

Because I am a turbonerd I am still mildly buttmad and asspained over the fact that there are four chubbies and only two salarians. I also do not like to play a kit that is shorter than everyone else, the volus can't reach the top shelf at the grocery store or meet minimum height requirements for some rides at theme parks and that makes me mad.

The Volus Engineer is quite capable of pulling off killstreaks without grenades or rockets, the Merc is a stealthy little weapons platform who laughs in the face of Banshees (if there's, you know, some stairs handy), the Vanguard can get the most ridiculously low cooldowns on biotic charge and the Adept is great for detonating ammo powers and debuffing bosses (and freezing Phantoms)...

... all of them can stealth, all of them have good survivability (stealth, shield boost, heavy melee - well, unless you put the BatGauntlets on the VolGuard but then he's got BC) and highly entertaining rolls ... it's just in the damage output department they're a little lacking except the VolGineer ... oh, and the height department but I won't hold that against them.

They're not exactly top-tier kits but they're all quite capable.

I disagree with this entirely, I can keep up with good players who use good kits & weapons and have done so in the past...and there are far better Volus players out there (Hoochie probably being the best volus player on xbox). Their host dependent but so are many other kits, it doesnt mean you can't do well or be very effective with them

Look... I don't want to start an edong competition or stuff, but if you play a volus adept and I play, say... A GE, not even the best kit around... There's just no way you're going to kill as fast as I do. Not once in 20 matches. I mean okay, they're fun to some, but you can't argue that they're effective kits.

I really really like 3 of the Volus. Not a huge fan of the Vanguard. He's just a shorter, less tanky, faster charging version of my Kroguard.  I only ever play him when people tell me how flimsy they are just to prove them wrong.

^Don't mind him. That's what happens when you have too much neckbeardism in your hands and you believe that the Reaper War is semi-real, and thus you must pay some serious attention to it and deal with it in the most effective way possible. Instead of...uh, thinking this is a game, and having fun with it D:

If the map is CQC and my kit is the Engineer I would take that bet. You can nuke a whole spawn insanely fast with Recon Mine and a priming weapon like the Venom. PM plus Venom shot eats everything else.

Tbh I don't blame people for not using the volus kits more often, they're good kits really, I think it's the amount of effort, and practice that goes into perfecting the right right build on a volus kit that suits your playstyle might be what turns people off, but in the end it's really worth it IMO, they can be potential killing machines if the player of the volus want its to be.

That's why I said "most of them", and in this case "volus adept". The engineer is the only one with decent damage output. Which is not though the roof anyway, as if you replace "volus adept" with "volus engineer" and "GE" with, say, "Fury", you're exactly in the same position as before :P

Volus hate makes me think of Sarah McLachlan ASPCA commercials, except I picture sad volus faces instead of animals while she's singing. Still makes me cry, of course.

Volus engineer all the way... RECON + PROXY mine FTW!

Love that little butterball.  :)

Some fools over use SB, now that's the problem... worse than the inappropriate use of the juggy shield.
