That's why I said "most of them", and in this case "volus adept". The engineer is the only one with decent damage output. Which is not though the roof anyway, as if you replace "volus adept" with "volus engineer" and "GE" with, say, "Fury", you're exactly in the same position as before :P

Well yeah the Fury isnt just a 'Good kit' it outperforms most kits in the game so what's your point exactly? Volus kits are bad because they cant keep up with top tier kits? You already made it into an edong competition by suggesting that volus kits are bad because they dont score as highly as some other kits, but lets move away from that...you want argue the effectiveness of Volus kits?

Ok The Volus adept is one of the best detonators in the game, the biotic orbs allow you to detonate both tech and biotic explosions and given that you have multiple orbs available at once means that you can perform one explosion after another....Then you factor in the potential 45% debuf you get from all of the orbs hitting. Factor in the ability to trivialize Phantoms and heal team mates and you have a very effective kit.

The Volus Vanguard I believe has (if specced correctly) the fastest cool-down to his Biotic Charge meaning he to can be a very good detonator, and who doesn't like stealth charges.

Volus Engineer is very powerful being able to take out multiple units and helping team mates with the debuffs.

The only one I would argue that is really lacking is the Sentinel but he can still be very useful with Decoy and Combat drone (Still he's dependant on a good weapon for any real output).

The problem is that you seem to be assessing them from an individual perspective but the kits shine (especially the Adept and Vanguard when combined with team mates who can prime allowing you to detonate for them. Its a team based game at the end of the day and Volus kits can be very effective in the right hands and with the right team.

I can't play volus, it reminds me of my college days when somehow freshman 10 turned into freshman 50. O_O

The Volus sentinel is great!  I set up my decoy and drones to do area damage and to explode on destruction... along with a scorpion I have pretty good luck stagger juggling enemies.

Ghost Cerberus Gold today, I was privileged to watch the CP #5 on Xbox360 rocking the Volus Adept, and soloing Wave 8 when the start of it went wrong for the rest of us simultaneously.

"Impressive!"

Funny how the Volus do stand on top of ammo boxes when you select them / customize appearance, etc. I can picture my little VolMerc there in place of Gimli (at least he doesn't have to exclaim 'Shields down!' since it's not acid rain).

My Volus Grapeshot Vanguard would absolutely wreck those orcs.

This is pretty much how it works in either 1. competitive games, 2. pursuit for records, so yeah. I don't think anyone would treat ME3 as competitive, but second option is possible.

Thanks for the tip with double cloaks, I definitely should consider that.

Btw, anyone can point me in the right direction to look up properties of volus heavy melee?

I don´t have a problem with volus.

But...I came to believe the niche isn´t actually there until they come to game. I suspect that volus create their own usefullness. They don´t have good offensive powers, they are weak and they are limited by their height. The team DPS is going down if there is a volus, which in return can make the game feel more like trio, which then creates the niche they are supposed to fill, when the pressure goes up.

I can never decide if I am happy we have volus in this mess or if we are in the mess because there is a volus.

I would say that the game itself isn´t hard enough to have full support character. And it kind of makes sense. It was built without one and we played for long time without one.

Still like them though, but I can´t shake off the guilty feeling when playing one  :)

Problem is that when you're part of a reasonable good team, all the stuff the Volus can do is more or less useless: Cloaking is kinda pointless when there is nobody around to hide from. Why use SB when you hardly ever lose your shields in the first place? What use are detonators when there is nothing around to detonate? Teamwork? Lolwut?

Lol wut - so there will be no opportunity to detonate in a biotic team? You never get hit on Platinum? You never get bad map/objectives? Play against Geth on Platinum and tell me you dont get hit lol. Are you playing with missile happy team mates? By your logic its pointless to even attempt biotic explosions because everything will be dead beforehand.

All I can honestly say about it is that I am not a great Volus player.  I have seen people who are, and they rock on the Volus.  Volus can be a lot of fun to play.  Short, fat, 400 pounds of flubber charging like a cannonball and wrecking shop with a Venom can be a lot of fun.

They are a great class to play, there is just a bit of a learning curve.  I should know - I've done the twinkie-roll more on the Volus kits than any other kit.

*shhhhhk* Payday!

If you're playing with friends - odds are they can cope with you mucking around with a Volus.

If you're PuGin' try top-scoring with a Volus; if you're in the top 2 slots at the scoreboard at the end, then it wasn't you not pulling your weight*

The only time to feel "guilty" about using a Volus is if you PuG AND suck in that game :)

* note: that's not to say that the people in 3rd or 4th aren't pulling their weight in all instances, if there's only a few K difference in score between 1st and 4th (best games IMO) then everyone has done well.

I'm of the opinion that saying "you could do much better with another non-Volus kit" is very much like saying "you could do much better with the Harrier". Does it stand a decent chance of ringing true? Yeah, but that shouldn't be the sole deciding factor when you're thinking about whether or not you should roll Vol-clan for the next game. Didn't get the impression Deerber was trying to argue otherwise, so I think that's a good point to stop on.

Haven't played my Volguard LSP in quite a while; maybe I'll take them out for a spin sometime later today.

(Also hahaha, spellcheck tried to change "Harrier" to "Barrier". Past aggressions forgotten, spellcheck, you've redeemed yourself.)

That's because you're afraid you would end up puking on yourself. Babies do that, I hear... And idiots can manage to emulate them.

As long as the other says something offensive, yes there is.

In fact, in a serious forum he would have been already warned, or even banned by just saying "OMG THIS MAKES ME GONNA PUKE!". But, BSN, you know...
