A protagonist that doesn't even appear until the closing chapters.

And she won't die offscreen, you get to watch her wither and get entombed in lyrium.

Actually I have a theory that the human mage will be an ambassador for mages and will be accompanying Fiona. This somewhat makes the human mage a "nobility" like the rogue and warrior. It also connects the character to events more than being a simple nobody who happens to be a mage.

Mages cannot inherit titles but they have their own titles.

@Ninjasplaycardgames2:  While I agree, only being a response team leads to things like "The Broken Circle" far more often I believe.

The thing I can't stand about Adrian is that she forced all of the mages who didn't want to fight (which was a very large number of them, around half), to fight her war for her.

I bet they will be the ones being slaughtered on the front lines why Adrian "leads" from the safety of her command tent.

Half? Hardly. Two tiny fraternities and the apologists.

@Eluvianix:  Yes, I'll find the passage when I get home about how most of the mages resent her and think she's a traitor.

My Inquisitor will be walking in the footsteps of greatness.

She redeemed herself in the end. It went quite well.

@Lulupad:  I personally hope not.  I would never support that fool rebellion and I really want to play a human mage.

The human Mage is like the Rogue and Warrior also from House Trevelyan.

And yet without Rhys' vote, the Loyalists and "apologists" could have won the whole thing. It was a very close vote.

Doubt it. I think our human mage will be there simply because a lot of the mages will be at the summit, not necessarily because we supported the rebellion.

The Aequitarians possessed literally the only vote that counted. The only way they could have lost is if every other fraternity, including the Libertarians and Loyalists, voted against them.

We actually don't know how large the Isolationist, Lucrosian and Loyalist factions are compared to the other two do we?

I have to imagine the Lucrosians are large-ish.

Has there been any confirmation on which fraternity Vivienne belongs to?

The vote was tied before she framed Rhys.

I would imagine that she's a Lucrosian.

Asunder makes it quite clear that Rhy cast the deciding vote

The Lucrosians are the second-smallest, the Isolationists are the smallest. Libertarians are I think second-largest.

He was the last one to cast a vote, so that's a given.

What are these fraternities anyway? I mean, I know the term, but how do they work within DA?

Not all mages with rank in college of Enchanters were supporters of rebellion

@Milan92:  Lucrosians are capitalist mages.  Isolationists want to abandon society.  Loyalists believe in the Chant.  Aequatarians try to see a middle ground to everything - they're moderates (or were).  Libertarians are radicals who want mage freedom.  I assume the more moderate of them don't want to just kill anyone who disagrees - but we haven't met any of those yet.

I would "hope" they would have released any mages who wanted no part in the war.

It's not "a given" if the majority of mages actually supported the rebellion, in which case the vote wouldn't have been tied to begin with.

Fraternities of the Mages

Edit: alothough there are also the Resolutionists, a splinter group of the Libertarians who take an "at all costs" approach.  They are not above using terror tactics and are pretty much apostates.
