It seems as though the HN consort has far more power that extends beyond their title. Owning a chunk of the country, a Grey Warden army, and saving the Warden stronghold in awakening combined with people viewing him as King anyway. Makes me think that if he wanted to he could use Anora as a figurehead or out right take the throne from her.
It did always struck me that in the case of a Cousland wedding that Anora had shot herself in the foot, she wanted to rule as she did when she was married to Cailin but unlike him the Warden is not an imbecile and is also potentially the most powerful noble in Ferelden, in the end she only rules at the warden king's pleasure and even her attempt to limit him to prince consort ends up being waved off.
If the Warden king hadn't disappeared i could see him overthrowing Anora had she ever overstepped her bounds.

This discussion almost makes me regret placing Alistair on the throne. Almost.
I'm fairly sure that Alistair would be a good king (as long as he's hardened or this is iffy) whether alone or with Queen Anora/Cousland.
It's just that some players ceased the opportunity to become king themselves for opportunistic or moralistic reasons. I actually put Alistair on the throne most of the time anyway. I believe that it was only one playthrough where Cousland became King and that was just to see what would happen. Plus, Alistair unhardened could be easily manipulated by Eamon and...that may not be be a good thing.

Right, which is why I never understand why some people would say "Anora wouldn't let him do this/that..." She would be nearly powerless to do anything if the Cousland King truly wanted it done.
Yeah, Anora's choice to marry the Warden is a huge mistake, I can't think of anyone who would side with her against him. It only works out because.
a. the Warden doesn't want the throne and
b.he disappears.
But I can't blame her for going for the arrangement to try to remain in power, it was the only lifeline she had so I doubt she was thinking ahead...or she's just used to dealing with that moron Calian.

in fact i agree, i like Alistair but he is no match for a king hero of ferelden, also you enjoy your title in all the story of Awakening while king alistair have only a few cameo, king cousland and queen anora this is the best marriage for all of ferelden a new golden age

King Cousland is going to be my first playthrough on my new PC, and probably my first import into Inquisition.
I never liked calling him Prince Consort though, if the option was given to us, it seems likely the Landsmeet would have voted for the Warden to become King anyways with or without Anora. Though her father was a hero, she's still lowborn, Cousland is the better option.

I've always been torn between which routes were my favorite.
King Cousland or Dalish Elf.
I need to do a replay...
Both stories are great. That said, I'm going Dalish Mage this coming game. ![]()

in DAII evryone refers to him as king of ferelden not prince consort, eventually he overshadow Anora.

I don't care about King Cousland because I don't play King Cousland. In DA:O we can all choose our origin and gender and I always play female non-humans. You think I'm going to gush about some optional player character and some optional ending that I never choose?
Plus, if the Warden is not a Male Human Noble who chose to marry Anora and survive the Archdemon, which is a pretty big percentage of players, then by default Alistair and/or Anora become the rulers of Ferelden. Since more players go for that option rather than choosing a male human noble who marries Anora and performs the ritual to survive the Archdemon, most people are going to talk about their outcomes rather than someone else's.
Besides, the slides do NOT reveal that King Cousland and Queen Anora issue a Gold Age. It says that the "prince-consort of Ferelden" married Anora and that "many said that if the two did not end up vying for control over the throne, they would usher in a new golden age." In other words, it's left ambiguous over what happened. It said that many believed that if certain conditions were met they would eventually issue a golden age, though it doesn't reveal if those conditions were met. "Would" does not mean "did."
Plus, as others have pointed out, the Warden disappears within a few years anyway. By the end of DA2, which takes place 6 years after the Blight, the Warden is gone, whether a male Warden that romanced Morrigan walked through the Eluvian or not. So I'm guessing the Warden disappeared before the rumors that Queen Anora and Prince-consort Cousland "would usher a new golden age" could come to pass.
So yeah. I'm glad you like playing Prince-consort Cousland, but that doesn't mean everyone else is going to gush over him.
don't forget Gider said the epilouge slides at the end of Da:o where just rumor

Fergus survives regardless of the playthrough. I wonder if he'll make an appearance? Extra dialog if the warden was a Cousland would be interesting, especially if Fergus finds himself brother to a monarch.

I'd like to see Fergus again, he'd make a good ally

My question is:
How the Arl of Redcliff is reacting to "not Maric's son on the throne" thing?
DA2's Alistair drunkard - you may return now. We fought Orlesians to put Theirin on the throne. In Witch hunt it was said on the RedCliff icon (world map), that it's becoming "powerful".
If Alistair dead - situation resolved... mostly... maybe.
