Mark mentioned in the PAX Prime demo that they wanted the player's actions, not words, to dictate what is going to happen.  So you can say "I will save the keep" but then go and save the village instead if you want.

Ah that's cool. I loved it in Kotor how you can continuously [Lie] to the Yoda councilor in Dantooine and every time he's like "[success] oooh good, I like your commitment to the light". It's hilarious.

@OP: Is this out already? It says September issue yeah? Should I look for it in the shop tomorrow?

"... part of playing Inquisitor means decorating Skyhold manually: everything from the windows, throne, banner, and heraldry to the drapes can be swapped in a menu."

I sense DLC inbound... and lots of it.

You know it's funny, I didn't even notice it until I saw this post and went back to look closer.

Sometimes brains work weird.

It's an interesting auto-correct our brain does with written language. If we're reading text that contains errors (spelling, mis-labeling, etc.) our brains have a habit of filling in/correcting what is wrong causing us to read it correctly. People that have good reading comprehension tend to do this more. It's quite fascinating, and I don't feel like torturing the forums with a rant about it.

Pretty much. This far out and we've already seen a fair bit of monetizing. Going to be lots of $5 weapon and aesthetic packs. I'm just glad they SEEM to be leaving the actual game development alone and just concentrating on the producer side.

Oh for sure I understand that.  It doesn't dispute that brains are weird though! ;)

*Shrugs* I really don't mind aesthetic and/or simple weapons packs like that. Especially in games like DA where the weapons and aesthetics aren't all that important to the overall gameplay experience.

Customers who are into that sort of thing and can afford to can buy and enjoy them.

Customers who aren't into that sort of thing/can't afford them don't really feel like they're missing out on much.

Company makes more money off of game, which can hopefully be used to invest in future projects for customers to enjoy.

Seems like a win/win for everyone.

Story/Campaign/gameplay significant DLC gets a little hazier.

Aye, I would much rather have a bunch of cosmetic DLC than another From Ashes.

I'm the same get it or don't. weapon/armor packs I don't buy because there is so many choices in the game itself why bother and within 5 mins you will prob find a better weapon in game anyway . hence why the flames of the inquisition weapon dlc means nothing to me

It provides the opportunity to see NPC reactions to your reasoning, and probably allows them to debate with your character. Getting other people's opinions on your decisions lets you see them from a different perspective, forces you to argue the merits of your choices, and in doing so you can make additional roleplaying decisions about how they react to criticism, how they argue their case, etc.

You could also retroactively discover additional reasons for your decision-making that you hadn't considered at the time, if, for example, you made a rash or emotionally-driven decision in the moment rather than a carefully calculated one.

Also, sometimes I do things in-game (doesn't have to be Dragon Age) and I'm like "ARRRRGH I DID THAT BECAUSE OF THIS INFORMATION IN THE PREVIOUS ACT BUT I FEEL A MIGHTY NEED TO EXPLAIN MYSELF I DON'T NORMALLY PUNCH KITTENS BUT I HAD TO BECAUSE THIS IS THE ARCHKITTEN". So an opportunity to clarify might be quite nice.

I'm looking forward to such a feature myself.

Like in DAO, I got the impression that the game kinda assumed I wanted revenge against Bhelen.

I didn't, I just didn't think Orzammar would be safe in his hands (even though we agreed on many policies).

Had I had the opportunity I'd have helped him find some other, humbler purpose in life, away from the political world that had corrupted him so horribly (my character may have been just the teeny weeniest in denial about his little brother).

Killing him was one of the most depressing parts of the entire game for me. And it breaks my heart even more to think that none of those motivations will be recorded in history like that, it'll just be another depressing tale of brother killing brother.

Also, I'd love a makeup mirror a la the Black Emporium. Even if you don't care if your Inquisitor is pretty, being able to age them was pretty cool.

I read the article, and covered the important bits in my news update video:

Thanks for the video a nice way to sum up all the latest goings on ;)

One thing i did notice is towards the end of your video you mentioned "Mythral" as an Elven Goddess. It's actual "Mythal" no "R",

http://dragonage.wik...Great_Protector

so i don't know if it's a typo or one more reason to question the legitimacy of the information.

Reminds me of what you could do in awakening with  Vigil keep and Crossroads keep in Neverwinter Nights 2.

It'll probably be like AC where you send them to other areas that we can't go to.  Like a trip to Fereldan to meet with the court, or with the Wardens at Amarathine.

I never played the Assassins Creed games (other than the first one for a few hours), I naturally think of NWN2 when I see features like this.  Which is a good thing, the keep management was the best part of that game (other than the storms expansion).

I'm just hoping there is a lot of meaningful impact to the game world because of decisions made there, I liked the feature in DAA, but it felt half finished to me.

Magazines tend to give their issue as the month after it comes out, so the issue that comes out now is named September's issue, the issue that comes out in September will be October's Issue. Don't ask me why but they do, I'm sure there is a logical reason in the industry for this but yeah darned if I know it.

@Sylvius the Mad: I'm not sure how you enjoy playing CRPGs. There's three (sometimes five) out of a nearly infinite array of possible choices of things to say for nearly every dialogue option in nearly every CRPG.

I rarely feel the need to say anything in particular. But I often want to avoid saying something in particular. So as long as I'm not forced to make positive statements, or made to make positive statements without having chosen to do so (this has been my biggest problem with thr paraphrases), I'm fine.

That the one thing I wnt to say isn't a listed option isn't a problem I ever have, because there's never one specific thing I feel the need to say.

And I'm always willing to say nothing. Silence isn't an expression, so it can't break my character.

I wouldn't mind if the options had [Lie] next to the line, like in Tuchanka in ME3. You can pick the option to lie. And even in that case you can choose what to do in the final decision.

As long as I can still change my mind later, sure.  But then what is the point of the flag?

If I can say both "Yes" and "Yes [Lie]", and the game's response to them is identical, why have both?

But because the PC's in-game behaviour is exactly the same in both instances, the game's response has to be identical.  Unless someone can read the PC's mind, those two options should produce identical results.

Not going to lie, picking our heraldry has me pretty excited. It's the little things.  ^_^

I wonder if the heraldry will reflect our protagonist's background: representing either the Dalish, Dwarven, or Vashoth.

I'm hoping there's a bunch to choose from, sort of like Awakenings' shield heraldry.

(And actually, weren't they talking about doing a deep dive into Skyhold in the next week or so? Hope that comes out soon.)

I remember Gaider said soon, but I don't think a time period was mentioned.
