How come people in DA:I is strong enough to smash castle gates with 2 jabs of their shield? Does this mean castles are now pointless in Thedas?

 

If my engineers would fit 2-inches thick see-through doors as a stand-in for main gates, I'll have them all fired.

So can mages also repair smashed gates? They should if they can repair bridges.

 

Just because its a "special ability" doesn't mean it can't be utterly stupid. And this is.

 

Any army just need a few soldiers to level up enough to smash a gate, and sieges will take minutes. They can just let that soldier kill 50 other soldiers to gain the XP. The loss would be lower than gong through the actual siege, anyway. Whoever came up with this ability should do Tom and Jerry episodes instead.

 

Kind of how the Warden in DA:O kills over a thousand people, potentially single-handedly?

 

Or how any Bioware protagonist can kill fire breathing artillery without a problem? 

 

Seriously, you're acting like an RPG protagonist doesn't already render the very concept of military tactics and militaries irrelevant by doing things at level 3 no real world soldier could ever, ever do. 

 

Realism complaints in an RPG are absurd, because the very existence of the plot of the game is a middle finger to reality.

Seriously, you're acting like an RPG protagonist doesn't already render the very concept of military tactics and militaries irrelevant by doing things at level 3 no real world soldier could ever, ever do.

Realism complaints in an RPG are absurd, because the very existence of the plot of the game is a middle finger to reality.


lol I had a similar question I wasn't happy with and the answer that stuck was it's a f*@king game . lol which is true so I shut up and got over my complaint

Don't get me wrong - I like realism or at least attempts to strive toward realism. It's just that pure realism doesn't work.

Can you ask them if they can show us keyboard and mouse combat on the PC? I get that they've shown how the game runs on PC, but I want to see the interface.

Why did you remove finishing moves?

 

Because of the uproar over Leliana's inclusion in DA 2 despite having been Beheaded at the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

IIRC a dev said they were working on finishing moves, but there was no guarantee they would make it into the final game. I wonder if it's a timing issue. Finishing moves can look nice, but in DAO I hated getting trapped in that ogre stabbing animation while my teammates were being overrun.

My question is all about Blocking and Shields!

 

1.) Is Blocking an active or passive state?

 

2.) Will it consume some resource when used?

 

3.) What attacks bypass the blocking ability?

 

4.) Do Shields have offensive abilities?

It's not combat question per se, but can you ask if we have the option to turn off minmaps, compasses, and whatever else will take us directly to our objective?

So a coherent Lore isn't important, then? I hope they let us summon a space ship too. Its fantasy, so belivability is allready out the window, right?
