If red lyrium is 'anti-magic...'

How does it interact with blue lyrium?
What happens if a mage takes it?
If blue lyrium is a physical manifestation of the Fade, is there an 'anti-Fade?' Could it be connected to the Golden City's corruption?

If it's anti-magic, then what do you call Meredith's Super-Saiyan powers?
Hypocrisy, of course!

It's not anti-magic.

I always thought Red Lyrium reinforces certain negative character traits of people who come into contact with it.
Like Bartrand's greed and mistrusting nature, and Merediths paranoia concerning mages. In the end it pretty much turns one insane.

In Thedas, magic is what happens when you draw on energies from the Fade or life energy in blood. In the real world, magic is anything that exists outside of our knowledge/understanding of the natural world.
I'm going to guess it's anti-Thedosian magic but still does stuff we'd call magic in the real world.
We should probably develop a term specifically for Fade based magic.
It's not anti-magic.
Yes, it is.

I think red lyrium is simply a more potent form of the normal stuff, with horrifying side effects of course.

So you'd see it more like D&D with divine magic and arcane magic being separate?

I assume you mean Anti-Magic is still magic the same way Anti-Matter is still matter? That could work, though I don't know if we know enough to make that conclusion.
If Red Lyrium, is like Anti-matter to normal magic, then I would expect any mages who use to explode. I approve.

That might be it, but it's specifically described as an 'anti-magical' substance so I'm going to guess there's a specific relationship between the two.
More like divine magic and demonic magic?

Taking blue lyrium means you wake up at home with only a fading memory of someone who looks oddly like Laurence Fishburne.
Taking the red lyrium means you turn into a crazy rage-monster who can stop bullets in mid-air and demolish 40 people who all look like Hugo Weaving at the same time.

What in the blue blazes makes you think its "Anti-Magic"?
Further, what in the blue blazes does "Anti-Magic" even mean?

I've thought of red lyrium, was more of corrupted or tainted lyrium. It for sure is disruptive and gives super powers (and insanity).
Perhaps it is a corruption of red lyrium and that gives it anti-magic properties?

I'm trying to get a handle on this, but what exactly does "anti-magic" mean? Like... an alien, or unknown form of magic, or do you mean that it negates magic?

Right? It's not very clear. It's a potent anti-magical substance that can turn you into an automaton, or a giant crystal monster, or a super sayan (who ends up a statue), or make you crazy.
Of course, we don't really have a handle on blue lyrium either and we've had two games with that.

Personally i think Red Lyrium is the lyrium equivalent of blood Magic.
Its lyrium that is either formed or tainted where the veil is thin due to massive amounts of pain, misery, and suffering for prolonged periods of time.

anti-magical
Ok, seriously, this thread is completely meaningless unless you explain what the hell "Anti-Magic" means.

The Red Templars are spreading it all over though. It doesn't seem to matter of the Veil is thin or not. They move into an area and crystals start sprouting.

We don't KNOW what it means.

Red Lyrium has no "anti magic" propriety I know of .
It gives magic or enhance magic or whatever in some user , and seems to drain "life" .(after a while people are no more flesh and blood but turns to somekind of rocks.Still magical rocks.)
