Do you mean anti-magic as in counter active properties to blue lyrium and mages? Or red lyrium taps into a non-fade related force/power source?

I'm curious as to how the Red Templars harness the red lyrium and apply it. We know it will ultimately turn them into monsters. I wonder if any of the Red Ts get the same fate as Meredith.

I'm hoping it's the second one. We already know the taint is an alternate source of power. Red lyrium hinting at something thusfar unknown would be neat.

Interestingly, the Red Templars seem to be spreading the red lyrium the same way darkspawn spread the Blight. It's not just corrupting regular lyrium, it's growing out of regular rocks.

Mages can also do this.

Yeah, so they can also do anti magic things.  Mages do it by using other magic and mana, templars do it by using lyrium.  At least that is how I have taken it all along.

Red Lyrium isn't anti-magic it's supercharged l\Lrium. It gives massive amounts of magical power in a short amount of time while driving the person using it insane much faster than the person would have become if they were using blue Lyrium.

Red Lyrium is just a more potent form of Blue Lyrium.

Sure, but even though this are anti-magic techniques, they are still magical.

A door that is enchanted in such a way as to nullify magic is still a magic door.

Wouldn't that eventually destroy the world, though?  How do you prevent it from spreading?

I am going to combine the two and get purple lyrium.

If the Templars start using purple lyrium and I play a Reaver, would I be a purple people eater?

Unsure. If it's like the blight, you stop it from spreading by killing the darkspawn in the area.

It was.

Off-topic, I know, but Sten not having horns is accurate to lore.  David Gaider stated it's a rare genetic mutation in qunari.

Only if you had one eye, one horn, and could fly.

It's a good thing I'd put my beer down, or I would have fried my laptop. Well done.

Ooh that's better, and if we give you an eye patch you're a one eyed purple people eater. And if you're a badly scarred qunari we have a one horned, one eyed purple people eater. Now we really need flying mounts for that final step...

I wouldn't eat red templars , if I were you.

We don't know what happens exactly but their bodies is changed by red lyrium.

So you should first capture some of them and make some test in Skyhold dungeon.

It was.

Except the devs said that they simply didn't have time to give all Qunari horns within DAO, and because Sten wouldn't have been unable to wear a helmet. So it ain't a retcon.

I know all that.

But EVERY qunari in DA:O had that same mutation.

Uh huh.

And NO qunari in DA: O had horns. Technical issues preventing them from giving qunari horns, and then later on giving Qunari horns isnt lore, its a recon.

There are no half-elves because of technical issues, but if they were to suddenly start adding half-elves, thats a retcon.

If they spread like the blight, the world's heading to a dangerous place.

These Red Templars have become the very abominations and malifecarums they were trained to stop/kill. Red Lyrium seems too insidious to carry on as is. I wonder what the true goals of the Red Templars is, if there is one. They seem nuts, but still militant. It can't be mages they're still after (can it?).

Batrand claimed the lyrium spoke/sang. I wonder if there is an intelligence behind this influence. That's even creepier.

Lady Shayna stopped by the BioWare offices prior to DA:O coming out and saw some of the concept art with qunari. She said the original designs had horns, and the developers have said there were issues with sten and helmets.

Wait, is that where we get the location name "Lady Shayna's Valley" where they fought the Frostback dragon in the E3 demo?

Yes.

Correct.

And how many had horns in DA:O? Or better yet, where in DA:O was it mentioned that Sten is a unique mutation, and most other qunari have horns?

Im not broken up about it, they look much better with horns, but if it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, and tastes like a duck, its a duck.

Retroactive continuity.

Things used to be "X" but we changed it to "Y".

Yes... I don't think you're on entirely solid ground with the argument that rectifying previously acknowledged deficiencies in your engine constitutes a retcon, even if it does result in significant visual alteration to some models.

Yes, they named that landmark after her. She is also in the codex.

Well, if it is anti magic, then maybe they are intentionally spreading it to destroy all magic, and end the threat of the mages once and for all. Also lore wise all magic comes from the fade. So maybe they see the fade tear as the work of the mages?

Of  course this is just speculation.

That's one possibility. I think, in part, the Red Templars got more than they bargained for. They may have goals, but they've stopped being Templars. Killing villagers, and (I think) enslaving others who have nothing to do with magic. They're nuts.

I still wonder how the Templars got their hands on it. I can't imagine them going into the Deep Roads for it.

It seems there's magic in blood , it's strange how Meredith ended up looking like she has been drained .

And now we have templars going through another metamorphosis.

There were also rock wraith (The Profane) in the Lost Thaig , it's unclear if it's just rocks possessed by spirits because the veil was thin or they were actual dwarves who were turned into this.

I don't know about the whole anti-magic thing, we'll have to wait and see what it means but...

Maybe it does have some sort of connection to the taint? I mean, aren't darkspawn supposed to be hearing a "song"? Isn't Bartrand in DA2 mentioning something about a "song" when he goes crazy?

Could be a coincidence, who knows, but still worth saying, right?
