Yes

And so, the leader of the 'goregasm' generation was born.

Is it really asking so much for a game to feature recapitations for once?

Honestly, if you're going to have Sera do 6 feet backflips and Cassandra bashing apart solid iron gates with her shield, you might as well add a bit of dismemberment too while you're at it.

More like 20 feet backflips. But spot on.

I assume Cassandra has no stat requirements when it comes to weapons, then. If she can smash heavy metal gates like that, needing a certain amount of strength to wield some sword would make zero sense.

Also why horror movies (mostly) stopped being about actual HORROR, and instead turned into blood fests. Sure I suppose it's horrifying to watch (no idea), but there are better ways to scare people (if that is indeed the intention)...

If enemies explode into little dismembered pieces isn't that dismemberment? Are people arguing for dismemberment that looks realistic* instead of general dismemberment?

*Realism is synonymous to "I like it" not actual realism (which is slightly boring in actuality).

The one thing that annoys me more than that though is the body disappearing phenomenon that caught fire at some point and never went away. There is a body and when you loot it vanishes into oblivion, which is exactly what happens in reality I'm told.

I believe that's just so the body doesn't stick around and push the RAM limitations.

I hope they bring back some kind of finshing moves for Rogues and Warriors, I enjoyed the one's in Origins a lot.

Not sure why people are bring realism in this debate, considering this is a universe with magic, demons, dragons, werewolves, ect

I like the games that have the finishing moves cut scenes. I really enjoy it in games like Skyrim. I fully approve of decapitations!

While I enjoy finishing moves and critical hits, it really is nothing to lose one's head over....

I'll admit, the screenshake and giblets as I smashed people with Carsomyr often solicited giggles.

I thought that an engine limitation more than anything, that the engine can't tell the difference between massive damage from spell, weapons, different types of weapons etc, so had one ludicrous gibs animation fro everything?

I would enjoy a limb or head flying off every now and then, makes since depending on the weapon.

Also effects of some spells being more gorey would be nice.

But eh doubt we will get that type of thing, such is life. :(

That was a great game. Someone should remake it (+complexity).

,with goblin

this game brings back memories lol

I'd like some variations of finishers (maybe for archers too like a headshot or something)..but not decapitations as they are very unlikely in a combat situation, as other posters have said

I greatly prefer finish moves over body explosions or any other kind of excessive carnage, but even in DAO they rarely felt earned and more often just felt random. So far the elemental deaths in DAI look fantastic.

It would be nice if they could somehow set up a system where the finisher reflected how much you dominated a battle or how brutal it was. A battle where you just completely wrecked an opponent and your finisher kind of reflects that with flourishes and style to it to display your object superiority and skill. With then on the other end of the spectrum, finishes in grudge matches that you really struggled through to the end in order to win would have a more brutal and graceless quality to them, with your character just doing anything they can to kill their enemy.

And then overall I would just like to have the feeling more often than not that I actually earned those finishers and not simply that they randomly occurred because of some obscure hidden system said it was time and the current combat situation allowed for it. Having it occur too often also takes away from the finisher. If it happens too much it loses that novelty and earned feeling to it and it just becomes cheap and juvenile.

Everytime someone mentions The Witcher in The Dragon Age Inquisition Forum I want to bash my head against the wall.

Can we PLEASE stop comparing the games.   The only similarity is that they are fantasy based. THATS IT.

I can't believe some people actually upvoted this comment. Fact is the both of them have tons of similarities.

Yes, while we're at it why don't we remove all little details in games, it really doesn't matter anyway, right?

Comparing them always turns into "hey I like this one thing, so to prove it I'll s**t all over this other thing and call anyone who disagrees a stupid poopyhead".

Hardly consider it an obligation to have, but I sure as hell love a good decapitation every now and then with my 2H sword.

Decapitations are a nice touch (as are kill animations in general) but not exactly a game breaker.

I think it's natural to compare Dragon Age with other BioWare RPGs and with non-BioWare RPGs that are well-known and popular. However, the Witcher specifically seems to cause a lot of animosity and arguments on this forum and others.

I don't really get the comparison between the two games. They are vastly different. the only thing they have in common is elves and dwarves.

He said he didn't think it mattered. No need to get so hot headed(amiright?). He didn't say this is a little detail, and so it doesn't he said it was a small detail that he didnt think mattered.

If you hit -10 health, people exploded.

It's not hard to find the information for what did the damage to you if they wanted to, given that it's all listed in the log.  I'd be skeptical if it was an engine limitation as opposed to something done simply to be funny/entertaining.
