My first Warden was a male Dalish rogue whom I balanced out in archery and dual-wielding. Little gingersnap mowed across enemies like a whirlwind and I plan to continue the glorious tradition in Inquisition.

Same here. My Cousland rogue had talents in archery and dual wielding. Later he specialized in Duelist and Shadow. Most flexible yet most damaging character I played in DA:O.

I am wondering, is it possible to do a hybrid dual wield and archery rogue for DA 2 ? I could not get a good mix / balance, there was too little skill points to go around.

I certainly hope that we can do a hybrid rogue build for DA:I with the ease of swappable weapons like that of DA:O. Couple this with Artificier specialization, it will be MAYHEM..!

Here's looking at you, Rogue :D

I like rogues. I don't find the brute force approach of the warrior appealing, and mages are complicated that I usually don't play them in my first playthrough.

Moar Looking At You, Rogue posts. Hehehe.

With rogues, I have no problem RP-ing as an alchemy and trap expert since rogues are supposed to be good in them. Combine this with stealth and evasion and you don't have to worry too much about healing, which this game limits, since you are supposed to evade damage and not get hit.

Plus, poisons and traps. Remember Quiet Death  ? Remember Choking Powder Cloud Trap and Sleeping Gas Cloud Trap ? I have really no idea what people mean when they say traps and poisons sucked.

Furthermore, no matter what RPG I play, for some weird reason, I max out alchemy first followed by some form of trapping (be it glyphs or rogue traps).

Not because of spamming or power leveling but because I will be busy spending my time figuring out effects of ingredients and how best to combine them. I studied chemical engineering in my undergrad, I love making makeshift weapons as a kid (making a gun out of simple paper clip and wooden pieces and then terrorizing other kids with it)  so chemical and mechanical things like traps and poisons fascinate me.  :D

When I critted for 30 000 damage with assassinate on nightmare difficulty in DA:2, my favorite dragon age class changed to rogue indefinitely.
Ive always loved mages first, then rogues and warriors 2nd. But Dualwielding assassin rogue in DA:2 when trying it? Extremely fun and ridicolously powerful.

Getting dex + crit chance to 50% then dedicating EVERYTHING into critical damage/cunning + = Mages, go to bed.

Rogues are like the Geth Infiltrator. They are glass cannons.

Yeah, but that is what makes it so fun :) You have stealth/evade and other mechanics to get out of the way. On nightmare it was very high risk/reward. And I felt that rogue was genuinely the most adrenaline filled class, the most fun class, and the most "Have to be skilled to succeed" class.

Playing a warrior or mage is like playing chess in the pause/play combat system. You always think 10 moves ahead and the gameplay is very strategic/tactical and you use all team members.

When I played rogue - it was more like "Tank use taunt, make him beefy. Have a combo dps character and control/healer" and when that setup is done, you can exclusively (almost) play your rogue. While your team just focuses on staying alive and endure, you flash across the battlefield bringing daggers into the backs of your enemy as if your blades was the embodiment of Zeus's lightning. And when an elite mob appears that would normally be a huge threat? Mark that poor soul for judgement and send him to hades.

Assassinate scaling with critical damage is the most satisfying feeling Ive had in dragon age.

I like dual wielding so my first play-through of DAI will definitely be a rogue, then the second will probably be a mage. My favorite class to play in DAO was dual wield warrior. That was really fun. You were pretty much a tanky rogue. DA2 really ruined warriors for me, as they were so boring compared to the other two classes. There's nothing like killing enemies with flurries of dagger strikes and backstabs (especially with the haste buff)  :D

I played a warrior in DAO and a mage in DA2. So it's time for the rogue to shine. It will feel strange at first because I never play rogues in any rpg ...well, except when I control party members. I'm taking a risk here!

I'll probably focus on stealth and assassination.

edit: haha, I made it sound like I don't play rogues "well". What I meant is that I never play them. Thank you ellipsis!

I'll probably start with a rogue - I've done big playthroughs with mages and warriors before, but I haven't done a good run on rogue since my 1st playthrough of DA:O.

Rogues kind of made DA2 tolerable and are BA in divinity so should be fun to try.
Especially since it seems a blood mage inquisitor is off the table. (Why bioware why)
