Not living underground wont fix much, heck it might make things worse as there will be more Darkspawn around and when the Song stops, after the Final Blight, it will be all hell on the Surface as the Darkspawm claw their way out of the Deep Roads.

Why not force humans, templars or mages if that's how you feel? Why differentiate between one group from another that may be just as guilty of a similar crime that some members of one faction committed?

Not to mention it could cause Cadash Thaig incident again if you send the slaves to fight, the Elves will take this opportunity and flee their Tevinter slaver and the Dwarf will slaughter them all out of fear that elven presence among the dwarf may jeopardize their alliance with the Tevinter Imperium.

After Awakening, Darkspawn are harder to find in the deeproads. Have to drive further to find them, so supporting them is alright but not as necessary. I would support them, but if they cant handle the new territory in a defensive manner, don't push too far then. Only expand when necessary, remember defensive strategy first. Move to other thaigs when dwarven numbers supports doing so. Otherwise, wait.

I'd help them...look up new real estate. Maker forbid they should leave that hellhole of theirs.

 

That's not such a bad Idea (after all - how does Oghren say: even their beer tastes like ******)

 

Hell, they could band together with the Dalish (they need to get of their high horse, too and both races are stagnating anyway (the dwarfs because they have lost so much, have a low birth-rate and have to fight the darkspawn constantly and the elfs because the hang on to past glory without really looking towards the future...they are both quite stuck)) and get themselves a new homeland (don't know if all this living underground is that healthy either...maybe that's the cause of the low birthrate?)

ps: Yeah, I would help them...get rid of the caste system and relocate all the civilians to the outside (only fighters, smiths and miners would be left down there )
