I have played all 3 games and I absolutely enjoyed it. This game was never made to be played single time, it was meant to be played again and again different class, make nicer choices or worse choices (like kill your squad mate). All Fun till the grind( i will talk about this in a bit)
Multiplayer when announced i will say world was set ablaze by fans (figuratively) will it be interesting or worse, mark a black mark on game history and blah blah blah, which all were proven wrong by beta and actual MP, it was just perfect and interesting. All good till grind.
Grind is something I absolutely dispise (hate), I stopped SWTOR and other games (including this one) b/c end game (at the time i played) was a grind. You go to this place run it till u find the item u r looking for 10h, 20h, 40h but after 100h still dont have that time screw that i am not wasting my time.
For MP i liked the idea of having (buy) packages to unlock some guarnteed items while other random (like 1 gold item and rest silver, etc.). I enjoy being the heavy hitter (cloak + sniper) or that 1 shot Assault Rifle gun. So i want a specific gear so randomness of awards made it PITA to achieve the said sniper and Assault rifle and lvl it up. So rather than enjoying the MP i was grinding thru it like a job till i get the rewards to enjoy it.
Suggestion to make it simpler, Award lvl up points from packages ( 1 gold point, 1 silver, 3 ammo drops etc, etc) which could be spent on that class of items so 1 gold point = 1 lvl on gold gun so i have still buy 10-15 packages to max out the said gear. This way after playing thru 1 hard match for about 30mins (i think it took that long could be more or less) it is rewarding to see that the gear i enjoy playing with is getting better. Some might say well this way ppl can quickly get OP stuff and steam roll thru matches one after other; well my friend if fun for u is steam rolling thru a match(gridning) than let it be but its not for me.
As this http://www.ign.com/b...lity-of-losing/ article explains be ready to loose, and I am by being heavy hitter on field, I faced longer cool downs, longer time btw shots and this means i could be easily killed if a large group of enemy swarms me but thats the risk i take to enjoy the playstyle i like.
Single player problem, I tasted all 6 classes, on ME2 i had 4 complete and 3 half playthrus while on ME3 only 1 complete and 2 barerly started. My biggest complain here is again grind, grind to lvl up for better skills. I am playing it again to taste how this class is different from one i played before, so if i spent 120H, 2 playthru to get max lvl on one class I am not doing same for 5 other classes. I play again to make different choices(with different class) to explore the game to its fullest and at that time having to worry about redoing lvls kills the fun.
Suggestion like ME2 where if u played again, game realized realized this is your second time( or u finish game once) and awarded u a nice sweet 250k currency and 100k of each mineral which equaled to less focus on grinding( not going paranoid about a 1500 currency vault hack) for upgrades and more time enjoying the game and story making different choices. So make something like this where game knows this is your second( or more than 1) time and award you max lvl and other stuff (money mineral gear) to lessen the grind allow the player to enjoy the game.
I remember an interview/article where a bioware employee said more than 60% ppl who owned ME3 didnt finish it (didnt do last mission) well but rest did and I will like to enjoy thru your game more than once only if i was enjoying more rather than worrying of small amount money or upgrade(by looking at walkthru guide rather than cutscene).
At end of day you are going to be competing for money, attention and want to come back and play. There are other games like CoD (does involve relative grind) but its MP is fast paced and short and I am horrible at that game but I enjoyed matches as i was done with them fast and unlocking stuff I like. In 19h worth of game time ( that about a week for me) i was max lvl all guns unlocked and close to gold skin on gear i enjoyed. And i have played that game for quiet a few hours
So in end all i want to say is make it simpler, easier to acquire stuff so person is enjoying game rather than grinding.
