Hey guys, I'm new here, but I have been lurking some recently.  I've been trying to find out if the game is going to have multiplayer.  It's coming out in a couple months and they haven't even told customers???

I know a lot of you guys don't want it and I understand that.  I am primarily an Online gamer though and I happned to absolutely love what they did with Mass Effect 3.  I admit that after Dragon Age 2 I wasn't very impressed (I did like the Arishok though obviously) and stopped following this title until very recently.  I also understand and agree with MP parts of the game not effecting the SP part of the game since there are some that do not wish to experience that part of the game.  They should be separate.

Can anyone tell me about this feature?  All I can find is..."we aren't talking about that"  The game was going to come out in Oct.  Nov. Now.  They to just said "yes" or "no" somewhere right?

The Dragon Age series so far (Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II) has been single-player only so I would assume that is the case with Inquisition. If you are looking for multiplayer then maybe there's a less well-known game out there that you would like. I started doing this recently, looking out for older games instead of just new releases like I had been before. I found quite a few games that turned out to be among my favourites that I would have otherwise missed out on.

Mass Effect was also exclusively singleplayer until the third game. The fact that the previous two games didn't have it is irrelevant.

All I'm saying is that given that there is no information about it I wouldn't be surprised if Inquisition did not have such a feature.

I don't see multiplayer coming to DAI. The mass effect series it made more sense because you already had a third person cover system. (Gears of War Style)

I would wait to see what they announce at Gamescom.

It's looking fairly likely at the moment that there will be a multiplayer component.

There's going to be some kind of multiplayer if the recent achievement leak is to be believed.

I suspect we will hear something at Gamescom later in the month, among other things.

thing with any dev studio when making a game if they say they arent saying anything, then it likely is there but isnt ready to talk about yet, but if it definately wasnt in then bioware would have outright said no right from the off, so give it time, there is still 3 1/2 months to wait yet

Doesn't matter to me.  A co-op would be interesting

I agree with ElitePinecone that MP is most likely included and will be announced at Gamescom. There is no reasons devs would be saying "we can't talk about MP" instead of "this feature won't be included at launch"  - like the toolset for example.

I think it'd be spectacular if they went full on oldschool including co-op throughout the entire game. It could work with the host being the Inquisitior while your friends are party members like your companions - taking their spots in the party. But that idea is a bit far fetched.

It's more likely MP will be the missions we send our agents on - another speculation of mine.

We'll see soon enough.

Man, I'd kill for that. You don't know how many times I mentioned that in the forums. Just the ability to have your friends take your companions' places and have fun in your SP campaign.

I would also love the ability to play 4 v 4 against a friend. Imagine, you and your 3 AI companions, their skills, equipment, Tactics and everything set by you, against your friend who did the same in his game. You fight against each other in one of those huge coliseums. Even better, have all companions on either side be replaced by players(meaning 4 players vs 4 players), and you got an epic MOBA mode in the game.

Personally I'm of the "no not under any circumstances" camp I have no interest in listening to the tools and screaming children that every mp game has an abundance of or participating in some boring "horde mode" nonsense its even worse then watching soccer and that's about the dullest thing on earth.

So if it is in I have zero interest in playing just as I never play any of the AC3/4 MP. I have to spend most of my day dealing with brainless idiots and have no desire to listen to more of the same when playing a videogame.

I really look forward to seeing what Bioware does with MP in the Dragon Age Inquisition series after the fabulous experience I had in ME3 with MP.

I can't say I have any interest in a PvP combat multiplayer, but when you mention co-op, that's when I perk up. Getting to explore the world of Thedas with a friend? That'd be awesome. I wouldn't necessarily want to lose a party slot to a friend's character during the plotty parts of the game, but it'd be cool to have a friend tagging along while we explore and resource gather. :)

Does it actually need it though? or is it just the flavour of the time?

I'd be very happy if it were included so long as it doesn't affect the SP at all, is only cooperative, and isn't drastically different gameplay.

it would be a lot easier for it to be cooperative than not as then they would have to worry about all bugs and accidental OP that comes with PvP. I personally think that maybe along with the normal "horde" mode that maybe they could include a few "missions" where you take the role of operatives and do stuf for the inquisition.

One thing that Mass Effect 3's multiplayer made me concerned about was the stupid rule-of-cool stuff that was thrown in to spice things up, and in Dragon Age, I'd always fear that the same thing would happen to that as well. Perhaps they wouldn't, but you never know with these guys. First and foremost, I'd want it to stick to the lore of the universe, and have proper, sensible settings for co-op quests. If something like PvP were to make the scene, I'd love for that to have a convincing setting as well, like if there was some place in Thedas where you actually had arenas. Hell, Orzammar gives us the perfect opportunity with the Provings. Also, no voice chat. I'd end up abandoning the campaign if I hear somebody speaking, or worse, playing music over the mic like in ME3's MP.

This basically. Multiplayer is only of interest to me if it's co-op and I doubt that will happen due to the story.

However, I'd much prefer a toolset to getting any kind of multiplayer mode.

It seems to be what most games are expected to have whether it's what the game is about or not. At least by publishers due to the success of a certain military-themed series. Personally I think there are enough such games out there already. Some companies need to realise most games probably aren't going to sell 20 million copies whatever they do with them.
