Some guy, unrelated to Bioware completely, said it on his twitter.

I think it was someone from the Escapist who speculated that it might be during Shepard's timeline, then a load of people starting talking as if it were a fact.

What they said was that Shepard wouldn't be important to the plot, but that old faces could appear. The rest was a game of chinese whispers.

Yeah really. Regardless of how long people have been doing it, it's common practice around these parts.

Welcome to the BSN.

Welcome to the internet more like it. People speculating like this have been happening since they could post anon.

Someone asked whether it would be during the Shepard trilogy and they neither said it would or would not. Someone else just said that it was related regardless.

It's a common practice everywhere. Therefore saying it like it was somethig specific to these foruns is wrong in my eyes.

A journalist reported that it WOULD be within Shepards lifetime (it was in no way presented as speculation) but it wasn't in the transcript of the panel at all.

The speculation that it might be set during Shepard's lifetime may not be entirely off base. After all Bioware did say that some old characters may return, which *might* imply that is set during Shepard's lifetime.

Of course it depends on whether the characters Bioware was referring to were humans or aliens with a lifespan similar to humans (like Tali or Garrus), or members of longer-lived species like Liara or Grunt.

stating speculation as fact is indeed pretty rampant here. I never stated it was somehow specific to this place. Ofcourse your interpretation is completely subjective, so I couldn't care less about how you see it. Your interpretation is "wrong in my eyes".

From my point of view, I've never seen so many people of a given forum take off running with mere speculation as if it's the end all be all carved in stone truth. As the defacto HQ of the core fanbase, this place should be where the truth is discerned from speculation. Not thread after thread and page after page of "Omg I'm so disappointed that it's in Shepards timeline. I can't believe we can only be human.  Great, we're a soldier again?!"

Honestly, a lot more people should've been asking the question the OP asked and checking the sources of these claims, instead of threads full of people freaking out for no reason at all.

I've seen 3 or 4 small time video game websites with different writers make the statement the next ME is during shepard's timeline

The Mako and Grunt in the next game? I may buy two copies.

Some journalist from the Escapist (her name escapes me) speculated that it could be in Shepard's lifetime and other secondhand gaming site reported it as fact.

If it's anywhere in a time period in which Liara's still alive, Wrex could also still be alive.

Just' sayin.

How old is Wrex exactly?

I kind of got the impression that he was the Samara of Krogan, but I don't really have anything concrete to base that on.

Exactly is hard to pin point.

http://masseffect.wi...Wrex_really_is?

People seem to be on the fence whether or not he was alive during the Rebellions or not. He says that 'right after the Rebellions' he had to kill his father. He was already a clan leader at this point, so he MUST have been an adult at that time. 'Right after' could just aswell be 100 years for a species that can live well beyond a 1000.

But he's not the Samara of the Krogan, at least, not until Okeer has died of clearly unnatural causes. Bolded because he's the oldest organism in the game (with the exception of Reapers, Leviathan and the Thorian, of course ;)), yet he did not die of natural causes. And as far I know, there are no Krogan anywhere in the game, or mentioned anywhere else, that die of natural causes.

Granted, I don't think anyone in the game dies of natural causes :P

Well, Wrex is at least more than 700 years old. He talks about being older than that during the drinking contest with Grunt on Citadel DLC. :P

Also, remember the Patriarch? He used to say he remembered a time before the Genophage, so that should put his age similar to Okeer. :o

I.. never realized this :D

That makes him at least 1076 years old ;) (if he was born right at the start of the genophage, so he's older)

Doesn't mean Grunt won't be there too. :D
