It did feel a bit Mass Effect-y, in the sense that some things reminded me of some places/characters in ME. Like the scene where that one inmate totally looked like a Vorcha, or the lawless mining station-turned-city (like Omega) looking like that human Reaper in ME2.

Fun movie, lots of humor - mostly from Rocket and Star Lord because hey, it's a Marvel movie.

In case people haven't seen it, here's the mashup by itself. It really deserves a standalone viewing

I saw this vid before GotG's release and it got me sooo hyped for both the movie and everything ME (especially with sdcc around the corner at the time ).

The next Mass Effect game needs someone like this - a squaddie that is short and furry:

lol the DA games kind of already have those in the form of their dwarves (Oghren/Varric). Maybe ME4 needs a sassy comic-relief volus squaddie...

Hehehe.

This made the rest of my day.

I had a lot of the fun with this film. It seems like Marvel is maintaining its position as the comic-based film juggernaut, financially and critically. DC has a lot of work.

Oh yea, no doubt. I was referring to the forthcoming creation of the Justice League and other future projects.

GotG is now my favorite comicbook movie ever. critics want every movie to be some sort of artsy contrived melodrama and any review bashing GotG is just a jaded opinion from a neurotic narcissist looking for attention.

I swear there was a location in the movie that reminded me so much of both Omega and that Reaper head from ME2

You mean Knowhere? The giant severed Celestial head that the group goes to to meet the Collector?

People criticize Mass Effect 2, therefore saying bad things about anything shouldn't come as a surprise. I believe some people are just scared by greatness.

Leaving this film thinking that the plot was convuluted and shallow is the definition of sadness.

To be honest yes it does have a convoluted and shallow plot, especially if you didn't stick around for all the end credit stuff of other marvel movies to know the reveals were big pay offs.

But what the film manages to do with that plot, in execution, in characters, and in general tone and feel of the film, far exceeds these faults to make it a great film. It does the same thing avengers did with its pretty shallow and pretty convoluted plot.

It entertains you so you don't care anymore. It doesn't stupefy you with special effects and explosions, and it doesn't try to make excuses for this short coming. It does what any film should do, fun and entertaining to watch, and does so with full effort and heart. It embraces its fault and metaphorically asks so what, and does everything it promised to deliver on imo.

Basically what I'm saying is that its faults are made so insignificant by the other stuff of the film, that even if you are a hardass about narrative and a harder roller for logic then the paladin for a god of reason, you will be made to like this film, because it lacks in nothing vital for a entertaining story.
