Inspired by the thread "Which Dragon Age companions would you recruit in real life?" I thought about posting this there because technically he didn't say what we were recruiting them for.

 

But instead we're doing this.

 

And yes, I'm talking about Pen and Paper D&D, Baldur's Gate would be too meta. 

 

Varric - Obviously he's the DM. Lelianna may know stories but Varric writes them.

Alistair - Because he's the most likely to remember to bring snacks. 

Sten - Because contrary to what the internet would have you believe, you've not played D&D until you've played it with a rules lawyer.

Merrill - Because I like Merrill.

Aveline - Because between her and Sten the party might stay focused for a whole game session. 

Oghren - Because you need someone who makes the party laugh.

Sigrun - Because you need someone who makes the party laugh on purpose. 

Isabella - Because it wouldn't be D&D if the DM didn't play favorites. 

 

Morrigan gets recruited too but she ends up sitting on the couch in the living room playing video games.

I only have one issue with that list.  Far too many are females in your group.

 

*cue sarcasm* Everyone will tell you no girls play D&D!

 

Varric as DM was inspired.  Leliana repeats legends but Varric creates them!

Thank you. And yeah, sadly this is more women than I've ever had in a gaming group. Most I managed was three. Though I've heard its gotten better.

 

Which leads me to my list of people I wouldn't recruit.

 

Carver - He'd be always be making passive aggressive remarks about how other players overshadow him.

Morrigan - I know I said I would but I just wanted to make that one joke. Its kind of hard to enjoy the game when one of the players is mocking everybody else. 

Shale - I'd love to have her but table space is limited and she'd likely have trouble with dice and miniatures. Maybe if she became a Dwarf again.

Anders - Because Isabela is going to cheat and its only a matter of time before that triggers a "Justice" episode. Pre Justice Anders would be fun to have along.

Fenris - Because he'd never show up. He'd be too busy sulking in his old master's house. And because I just plain don't like him (sorry I don't, I'm not saying you're wrong if you do. He bashes Merrill. Punk.) 

Velana - Do I even need to explain this one?
