So, I'm guessing you're a moron. Because we did play Destiny. Or are you so blinded by ME3 that the world has ceased to exist -around you?

Mass Effect(including the MP) is totally different from the yet to be released Destiny(....the angel I don't know) if only for the fact that one is a TPS while the other is FPS.
No, it's not "totally different". You could say that when you compare Mass Effect to Mortal Kombat, Nethack, Guitar Hero, Steel Panthers, Pizza Tycoon, Wii Fit or Softporn Adventure. TPS and FPS are very similar genres, so much so that there are several games where you can switch between those modes.
Mass Effect would, in fact, work just fine as an FPS. The biggest difference in gameplay would be in cover mechanics.

But... but... mass effect is a softporn adventure.

SPS. Soft Porn Shooter.
That may lead to unhelpful misunderstandings, of course....

Pretty much... ![]()

Even then the cover mechanics wouldn't have to be that different - there have been other FPS games that flick to third-person when you stick to a wall (IIRC the original Thief did something like that way back when).

I think you're right about the shooter aspect of TPS - FPS. However, I feel that the powers of ME3 are quite unique. Especially the aimed and arcing ones. Also I can headbutt - I mean wallrunning is great but what other game has headbutts?

Yeah, that's one way to do it. Personally in an FPS I'd prefer the good old FPS-like soft cover, but with the ability to lean sideways to take better advantage of it. Also, I actually dislike how TPS gives you a perfect view of what's happenging both around you and in the distance while you hide behind cover like a little girl - loss of some tactical awareness should be the price you pay for staying in cover.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying here... do you mean that ME3 powers wouldn't work well in FPS mode?
I don't see any problem for the vast majority of the powers. Overload, Warp & friends would function just like they function right now, with the only real difference being that you couldn't lock the target while staying 100% in cover, you'd have to see the target first. Some movement-related powers like Charge could actually be pretty interesting from first perspective (I think some disorientation would only be appropriate for a power like that), but that really depends on how they're implemented - and there are many, many ways to implement such things.
I think powers like Electric/Biotic Slash with their silly animations would be the most problematic in their current form. But they're stupid powers anyway, so good riddance!
Personally I'd like it if powers in general depended less on automatic locking and required more skill from the player to use effectively. Maybe hitscan powers like Overload shouldn't lock at all. Maybe some (but not all!) homing projectiles would require active "painting" of the target. Maybe some projectiles you could literally control yourself, like Guided Missiles in Descent 2. (You guys remember that game, right?
)
However, melee and dodging... that's where things get interesting. Personally I feel that with some creativity and imagination even things like combat rolls and headbutts could be implemented in FPS mode in a way that feels natural and not too disorienting. The real problem here is that it'd require some creativity and imagination...
Nah, I think the devs could pull it off if the choice was made to put some effort into it.
From ea's point of view, mediocrity has worked out pretty well (making lots of money), so why should it direct more resources in to achieving excellency?
EA/BIOWARE could have milked the bejeebus out of DLC for ME3MP, instead they killed support exactly 1 year after release.
EA... why U no want my money?
Particularly sad when you consider how long until the next ME. ![]()

I'm sure they would work exactly the same way. Perspective doesn't change a mechanic. However, the 3rd person perspective let's you make most of them, because you simply have more awareness. How would you arc a power around a corner in first person when you have no LoS?

Here's just one of many ways it could be done:
Centering your reticle on a target acquires a lock on it. Keeping the reticle close to the target retains the lock, even if there's a certain amout of obstacles between you. Then you press the power button and move the reticle to the desired direction during the short casting time, which makes the power arc.

Sounds viable - I guess I'd need to see it in action to make my verdict about it.
I hate myself for using this gif, but now more than ever...
It was a while ago, and you probably won't remember, but I played a match with you where you tried to vanguard gold and failed epically and miserably and died on Every. Single. Wave. But I got BoTB in that match so it was all good.
Double Post
You can put me down in the "don't give a flying f*ck" about Destiny either.
Given how pretty much every massively hyped game of 2014 has worked out so far, excluding Dork Souls II, I can't say I'm terribly excited.
Excluding Dark Souls II? You kidding me right? DS2 is so bad compared to what I was expecting and can't even come close to DS1. I finished DS2 including the DLC with all the bosses (except for Ancient Dragon and Darklurker) recently without a single death, that just goes to show how lame the game is. And if you happen to die it's mostly because of some bs game mechanic like broken hit boxes or the fact that they increased the "difficulty" by having enemies gank you. That's just lazy of the developers and it didn't live up to the hype at all.
Sooooooo......I guess we kind of broke even.
How many good people do we need to sacrifice to get rid of a person?
We sure sacrifice too much good people for the good of this community ![]()
Also, why is Boogie permanently banned? I liked Boogie ![]()

Since when did you start speaking so much truth?
So did Boogieman.
?
What happened there I wonder. All the butthurt folk on his list must have filed a petition to Bioware perhaps.

A new entrant didn't take too kindly to being on it and must've snitched. The mod wasn't pleased to be on it either. Or so I've heard....

Goddamn shame tbh, Boogie was a good laugh round here.

B00g13 quit BSN after I embarrassed him in front of his girl (Cassandra Saturn) at Street Fighter. He couldnt take the shame and lashed out at the mods only to be banned...Morale of the story? Dan Hibiki is op
Loooooool. The way I heard it, you got absolutely embarrassed. Only won a single round iirc.
