Female Dalish rogue.

Why?  Well, in Origins and 2 I played characters whose appearances were designed after the Warden/Hawke we saw in promotional footage - however, I played both as a mage; and both had similar goals and motivations.

Even though one ended up being a supporter for mage freedom (Warden) and Hawke ended up siding with the Templars (as a blood mage, no less.  There really was no reasoning for it aside from the thought of a blood mage giving Templars orders making me giggle) both characters felt so similar that I decided halfway through my Hawke playthrough that the next Dragon Age game I played I was going to play something completely different.  A female elf archer was the first thing that came to mind, and I stuck with that idea ever since.

Although I must admit...  that necromancer class is looking very appealing.  0o   Maybe that'll be my second playthrough.  :)

Christoph Trevelyan, Human Male Mage.

I originally planned to do an Elven Male Mage run, but since in this particular "canon" my Warden is an Elven Male Mage, I figured why not switch it up and be a Human this time. Having 2 straight Elven Mage protagonists? A little too convenient for my liking.

Playing a Male because I always play Males in my first/canon runs, I like to make that particular character a representation of myself (not aesthetically), and it helps the immersion considering I myself am a Male.

Also planning on being a Mage because Mages are generally my favorite class/style of play across almost all RPG games. Mage was definitely my favorite class from DA:O and DA:2. Sticking with tradition! It also helps that Mages are so central to the plots across the DA games.

I cant decide on which of my 3 planned characters i should go with first.

1. Marzanna.
Dalish necromancer.
She's gifted with spells of ice and entropy. Despite the traditional view of magic involving spirits, she sees necromancy as an invaluable tool in her fight against her foes. Why sacrifice an elven or companion life when a corpse can be used instead to be fodder?
she will also be very pro-elven, but any who oppose her are all treated equal, elven and non-elven alike.

2. Makon. Human mage.
Has no concerns regarding his lost nobility privileges. The circle has taught him how to harness his formidable talents and he relishes in his ability.
however, he is not without reason, and believes that no mage should abuse their powers to enslave others.
His spec will be that of Knight Enchanter.

3. Male Dalish mage.

Basically a Marethari.

I want my first playthrough to be engaging but fairly straightforward. I'll save my more adventurous roleplaying scenarios for later playthroughs when I really know what I'm doing with the game.

Inquisitor: Trevelyan, male human noble archer (rogue)

Main party composition: Cassandra (warrior), Blackwall (warrior), Vivienne (mage)

LI: Cassandra

Beliefs: Pro-Circle, Pro-Templar, Andrastian (not devout), Anti-Qunari, Elf-phobic, favours the nobility

Personality: self-assured, naïve, likes order and is deferent to power

Unlikely to want to recruit: Cole (spirits/demons in human form are a no go), Solas (ditto for apostate elf mages), Iron Bull (Trevelyan would absolutely not accept Qunari spies into the Inquisition)

Most likely to get on with: Cassandra (she's of noble birth, has a high status in two organisations and doesn't much like mages), Blackwall (Trevelyan respects his status and sacrifices made as a Grey Warden), Cullen (Qunari-sceptic Templars are good in Trevelyan's book)

Least likely to get on with: Dorian (Trevelyan sees Tevinter mages as representing something very bad and does not believe they can change), Sera (she's an elf and no more than a common thief in Trevelyan's eyes)

Most likely to have a 'complicated' relationship with: Vivienne  (she's still a mage, even if she is the most respectable kind in Trevelyan's eyes. Plus, we know Cassandra "sees eye to eye" with Vivienne, which might give the mage a free pass), Varric (he might not do anything to personally upset the Inquisitor, but Varric has an uncomfortable relationship with Cassandra . Given that Cassandra is Trevelyan's girlfriend, that could cause some problems with Varric)

My second playthrough will be a female Qunari Knight Enchanter (mage). Party composition will be: Solas, Iron Bull (LI) and Cole. Apparently, IB and Solas both get along with Cole really well, but Solas and Iron Bull have issues with one another. That could make for an interesting party dynamic.

All this is of course subject to change once I find out more about/play the game...

My first Inquisitor is going to be a male, elven mage (necromancer specialization, maybe rift mage).

He's going to be a diplomatic mind, with a rather carefree, laidback, and somewhat sarcastic demeanor. However, he knows when to 'crack the whip', so to speak, and be serious to the plight at hand and the plight of other people, especially people he considers family and friends. He'll also be rather remorseless towards enemies and those who threaten him, his friends, and his mission(s). Has a soft-spot for women etc.

I usually fall into this...style of character quite often in RPGs. My favorite playthrough of Origins was somewhat the same, personality wise, and my character in Dragon Age 2 was also, somewhat the same. There are differences however, based on the character being different (class, race, specialization), and his role in the universe and overall story being different as well.

I expect that my first playthrough will be as a female human mage. I'm most curious about the Rift Mage specialization, though I doubt I'll actually pick a specialization until I'm presented with the options and information in the game itself. While we know that human mages were sent to the Circle at a young age, I fully intend this character to be ardently pro-mage... except in cases where rebel mages are harming innocents or otherwise are acting in unethical ways. She will despise the Chantry-controlled Circles, viewing them as prisons, but will not tolerate mages that are more concerned with their own power than in the welfare of the people. I have not thought forward to a first name for her.

My second playthrough will either be as a Dalish elf rogue wielding bow and arrow, or as a Qunari warrior. The Dalish will attempt to balance the needs of the Inquisition with his hopes for freedom and a homeland for all elves that want to work together to build one, much like the mage will be attempting to balance the needs of the Inquisition with her dreams for mage freedom. The Qunari warrior, depending on what type of backstory BioWare has in store for these Vashoth, may be the most ruthless of them all, aiming to simply do whatever is necessary and pragmatic to meet the goals of the Inquisition - stopping the demons and closing the Veil tears, and restoring order to Thedas.

If you haven't decided yet, why not?

I never plan my playthroughs in advance. Besides, I don't know yet if I even get the game.

My first guy is named Gale Trevelyan. Human Mage, probably a Rift Mage.

-Chaotic Good

-kind and clever

-same background as my written Inquisitor, Jace: burned down his family estate as a child, killing his parents, taken in by templars soon after

-flirts with pretty much any hot guy he sees, but is totally naive when it comes to love and relationships

-pretty tolerant of different people and beliefs, but when faced with ignorance or cruelty, heads will roll

-romancing the hell out of Dorian

-pro Circle, but wants to drastically change the power imbalances between mages and Templars

-probably wary of Cullen, who was once a Templar, as well as Cass, a Seeker.

Here's what I think he'd look like. He's drawn by Orenjimaru on Tumblr, who actually has an Inquisitor with the same name:

My first Inquisitor (and only one I have planned so far) will be a male Elven mage named Aylan Fen Lavellan.

True Neutral sometimes veering on true a**hole, Necromancer or Knight Enchanter, I'll decide when we know more on Specializations.

Aids those who aid him, hurts those who hurt him. Being forced into the Inquisition will anger him, but after easing into the role he will understand the need for the organization. He's Bisexual and can be a flirt but usually there is no romantic intent behind it.

Why this set up? I enjoy playing indifferent characters, and the Dalish can be pretty indifferent to the toils of Thedas. Mage because of the whole breach in the fade.

Idk what specialization because I dont really j now any other than one for the rogue.
ive always loved the DA elves (except their appearance in da2) and even though we can only be dalish (disappointed tbh) I still want to give it a go l, after all we really dont know much about the backround.

Human Male Warrior(Sword & Shield)

I will likely play every race(male & female) at some point. The above is how I started played DAO And DA2. I will continue with that for DAI.

Human Male Rogue, probably an archer. Bosses and other difficult enemies are rarely melee-friendly, especially dragons.

I can't decide between a female Qunari Knight Enchanter mage or a female elf dual dagger (Tempest?) rogue. I plan to try both eventually, so I may end up flipping a coin to pick who goes first.

I'm undecided between male human knight enchanter and Male qunari knight enchanter. I think I can relate more to a human character but being a qunari inquisitor really sounds interesting.

Lagertha: dalish or qunari female warrior, sword and shield.
Aslaug: human or dalish female mage, probably a rift Mage specialization.
Siggy: dwarf or qunari female rogue, artificer.

Yes, I'm on a History Channel Vikings kick ;) I love the female characters on that show (especially Lagertha!) so I'm using them as personality inspiration (the names are just fun to run with). I'm just not sure whom I'll roll up first, I want to play them all!!

I'm not yet firmly decided on races for all the concepts, I'll just have to roll with what feels right at creation. While I definitely want to play a qunari eventually, it won't be as a first run. I want to get a better sense of the starting background for a basic qunari PC before I attempt to role play one, so I'll be reading up on the experiences of those who go with qunari straight off, for cues.

DA:O & DA.A = City Elf Rogue

DA2 = Human (obviously) Warrior

DA:I = Dalish Elf Mage

I usually go for rogues when I play rpg's but as DA2 was more action oriented I opted for the warrior class in my first "canon" playthrough. So for DA:I I figured that I might just as well go for something different again so mage it is. Probably a knight enchanter as Spellsword/Blade singer type classes is another favourite of mine ever since the 1st ed D&D elves.

Male human mage. British. Probably necromancer.  Varric, Cassandra and Dorian in the party.
