I've got a bit of a thing for playing characters whose class seems to be an odd choice based on their background/personality. That's why I had it planned (since it was announced) that I would play a female Qunari mage. Female, because we haven't seen one in the games before and a mage because we haven't seen ones that weren't Saarebas. So I figured having a stick twiddling FemQunari would seem like an odd leader of the Inquisition.
However, after watching the demo of her I felt like she looked a bit too normal. So now I'm thinking I might make her a rogue instead, probably an archer if it's possible, with the artificer specialisation. And as I always seem to play rogues as cheeky/sarcastic characters I'm going to try and play her as someone who is quite aggressive.
As my first playthrough, I expect things to get messy with her.
Second will be my rarity, a Dalish elf with a sense of humour
He will be a mage, and the necromancer specialisation; because who doesn't love that guy who is always making inappropriate jokes while raising the dead? Ammiright? But mostly because I think he will be an excellent inquisitor to match with my snarky but loveable Dalish assassin Warden, and sarcastic Blood Mage Hawke in the history of dodgy Thedas heroes. I intend to team him up with Sera, IB and Dorian in what I'm hoping to call my 'team sassy' playthrough. Gotta say, looking forward to my second playthrough the most ![]()

This is a pretty hard decision??? I usually started my playthroughs with a female rogue. But I found playing the Circle Mage to be a lot of fun too.
I did enjoy all of the individuals stories in Dragon Age Origins. I enjoy the human rogue and Dalish Warrior and Circle Mage the most. The dwarf not so much. Unless it was Oohgren. Nothing like a drunken warrior by your side.
I might go with the human mage on my first playthrough. As much I like the idea of a choice of playing a Qunari, I think I might leave that to my third playthrough.
It's a shame that there isn't separate stories for the classes. I loved that about Dragon Age Origins. It made you feel more connected to the lead character that you were playing.
From what has been said there is sort of a pictograph story opening on how you become the Inquisitor. Dragon Age 2 pretty much has one opening sequence, which shows you running from Lothering.
Anyway back to the original question. I may choose a female rogue or female mage on my first playthrough. I still have 3 months before I have to make any final decision.

My first (also the only one I have planned so far) Inquisitor is going to be female elf warrior (probably two-handed) with Reaver specialization. Not really sure about which voice set to use, but I do hope to romance Solas. If he won't be a LI then Sera.
Elves are my favorite fantasy race, so that's why she's going to be an elf.
As for the class. My main Warden is a rogue, main Hawke is a mage, so I figured it's time to make a warrior.

Elizabeth Nancy Trevelyan(ENT) - mage/ruthless/b*t*h who supports the templars. This will be my main character. I will play the other races, but ENT will be the one I will do most of my playthroughs with.
She will have with her for the majority of the time, Cassandra, Vivienne and Sera.

What gender, race, and class is your Inquisitor going to be on your first run?
If you haven't decided yet, why not?
If you have decided, why your specific set-up?
I admit to being somewhat conflicted between three starter Inquisitors. I've got to flip a quarter and choose either Female, Elf, Rogue [Tempest] or Male, Dwarf, Warrior [Reaver] or Qunari, Female, Mage [Knight Enchanter].
I was hoping that as I played around with world state settings in the Keep, that I would quickly hone in on one of these, more than the others. Now, after having set four basic world states in the Keep for use during Inquisition, the best that I can do at the moment is say that it will be a close draw between the Female Elf, Rogue and the Qunari Female, Mage.
In the past I've more often than not, adventured as rogue or mage.
