I did notice that! It does mesh with something the devs (Gaider, I believe) hinted at during GaymerX. He didn't come right out and say "there will be trans characters in DAI" but he did hint that he hoped we'd like what they included in the game (in response to a fan question re trans characters in game).

To be fair, there were trans characters in Origins and 2.  They were both in the brothels of those respective games(well, one can see 2's again in Mark of the Assassin), but still.

Yes, well, if they have transgendered characters in DAI, I hope they're portrayed a little less insultingly like they were by those hideous brothel choices in the previous games.

Wow!   One of my favorite female VA's will be doing the Inquisitor.   This is great news!

She has single-handedly ruined some of my ME playthroughs in which I try to experience other LIs.    Once you hear that voice... its just all over.

Her first sentence sums up why I feel Bioware's protagonists have become boring - no matter what, I'm a dauntless and dashing hero. Showing foibles and vulnerability is exactly what makes hero's interesting. Seems we're in for another power trip role play.

They weren't trans characters, they were men in drag, and the butt of a (rather insulting) joke. It's a big difference, and BioWare has already admitted that they were in the wrong for not making that distinction clear in game.

I just assumed she was talking about Bioware's inclusiveness as a whole... not necessarily JUST in this game.

The question that David answered at GaymerX was actually directly in response to a fan's dissatisfaction at how DA had handled trans characters before. So they're VERY aware of how they screwed that up and sounded both understanding and sensitive to the issue and how to do it better. So I'm more than a little (but still cautiously) optimistic!

Thanks for that bit of info, JadePrince; good to know!

And aaarcher86, I considered that as well, but she actually said that the game "has got transgendered characters" in it. Hopefully we can have a relatively major character in the game who's transgendered this time. If they do it respectfully and write the character well, it'll be awesome.

Did anyone else notice that Ms. Reegan said there are transgendered characters in the game? Hmmm...

Yeah, I believe David mentioned Inquisition may have transgendered characters back when he was talking about Mae missing the cut-off date.

Also, Jennifer Hale recorded lines for a character that she called "groundbreaking", whatever that implies.

The joke in MoTA was due to a bug with the dialogue, it wasn't intentional.

Indeed. But this is what we get with the voiced protagonist. And with the all-cinematic approach. We also then get a group of creative and talented people working together, who all thinks they are doing a movie.

This is the flaw. This is the weakness. This is what I fear one day will drive me away from Bioware.

The problem is that she takes away my character's voice and manners. When I see a video like this, I fall down in a pit and wonder why I ever had hopes for DA:I.

But never mind, I've known all along that we get voiced again. I'm still going to play this game and try to like it. I'm not giving up.

No, I mean that they're used as a joke in a "trap" sort of way. They appear to be female and are offered as female options in the brothel, but it turns out they're actually men in drag. It's the sort of homophobic/transphobic joke that is used in stuff like frat boy movies and such. It rubs me the wrong way, though I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't see it like that. It just has unfortunate implications, is all.

Play a horror game if you want scared protagonists.

Loved her explanation of how she found the Inquisitor's voice. Trying to decide if she is a good fit for my Qunari mage. I guess if she is outside the Qun it isn't unreasonable for her to have that accent; it's in the demo after all.

Didn't say white knight, I said power trip. Which is what makes renegade options so banal.

ha...nice ninja edit there.

Yeah, Renegade Shepard is a white knight.

No he's a buffoon that gets away with his ridiculous behavior because he is the protagonist.

It was definitely something they said they were looking into, but I believe they've confirmed that it's not making it in.

Well fuddy duddy lol, I'd like to hope this is still going in unless they quote on quote state they couldn't do this :/ that would've been really cool to have but if not it's something I hope they can work on in the future.

She's very talented. I can't wait to make a female PC to use her VO. She's my favorite so far.

I'm trying not to get excited, but it would be super amazing to have trans characters in DA. We know they exist in Thedas (and sadly Mae was conceived too late to make it in the game), and we can be relatively confident that if they're shown, it won't be in brothels anymore (Bioware learned that lesson). So now my brain is working overtime imagining who/where this/these characters might be. :)

I am going to use that line on Cassandra.  I see her and my inquisitor butting heads quite a bit in the early stages of the game.

It takes a certain person to be a leader. Doesn't mean one doesn't have flaws but at least on the surface one should emit confidence and show strength.

Btw, what a lovely woman! And that voice....

I know which voice i'll chose for my femquisitor...  ;)
