Since one of my old threads got locked due to necro bumping, I'll make another similar thread...

So my question to you is: What was your "most killed off squadmates" playthrough you've ever done?

For me:

Name: Jessica Shepard

Pre-Service History: Spacer

Psych Profile: Sole Survivor

ME1:

- Ashley(Bomb)

- Kirrahe(Ignored objectives)

ME2:

- Garrus

- Tali

- Kasumi

- Thane

- Legion

- Grunt

- Mordin

- Jacob

- Jack

ME2:

- Zaeed(Death by protecting Korlack)

- Miranda(Death by exhaustion)

- Samara(Bullet in the head solves everything....I know that now)

- Kaidan(Shot by Shepard)

- Wrex(Shot by Shepard)

- Liara(Death by Harby beam)

- James(Death by Harby beam)

- EDI(DESTROY!)

The only surviving squadmate was Javik, but Javik was never recruited, therefore, I would presume him as dead as well. It was a lonely playthrough with only 3 squadmates the whole time. If I did recruit Javik, there would be one squadmate that would still be alive. My EMS was still too much for the Normandy to survive, so my bad luck on that part.

I had a run-through where, over all, the only survivors I had were Miranda, Liara, and James throughout the entire trilogy.

I call this playthrough, 'I'm Commander Shepard and you will die' playthrough. This is a playthrough(only did it once) I did shortly after Citadel dlc came out.

ME1

when doing any side missions that can lead to the death of anyone I killed them all
kill Fist

talk with Conrad so he shows up in ME2

when scanning the keepers kill Chorban, Here's how
on Feros kill all the colonists and Shiala
I didn't help Rita's sister, Jenna
Noveria--have Anoleis and Gianna Parasini kill each other. Here's the video to do this. Kill the Rachni Queen
On Virmire, kill Rana Thanopolis and let Kirrahe and Kaidan die. Keep Wrex and Ashley alive
Kill Balak in Bring Down the Sky dlc causing the hostages to die
let the council die

ME2

On Omega make the Batarian drink his poison. Let the Patriarch die fighting the killers. When going to recruit archangel, let the kid join the mercs only to watch him be killed by Garrus a few minutes later. On Mordin's recruitment misson don't give medigel to the Batarian and when you encounter Mordin's assistant, kill the Batarians.

talk with Conrad
let Jack kill Aresh on her loyalty mission
let Garrus kill Sidonis on his loyalty mission
have Jacob's father die at the hands of his crew
let Mordin kill Maelon and save the data
On Samara's recruitment mission kill Elnora
On Thane's recruitment mission, don't give medigel to the salarian, push the merc out the window and on his loyalty missionkill Joram Talid
Jack, Kasumi and Thane killed because of no upgrades

Garrus died  closing the door

Jacob was carried off by the swarmers

Sent no escort for the crew. They will die
Mordin killed as 2nd fire team leader

Miranda and Grunt killed fighting the terminator

After the suicide mission, kill Zaeed during his loyalty mission
Samara, Tali and Legion live to be in ME3

Do the Arrival dlc to kill 300,000 Batarians

ME3

have General Oraka killed
let Jondam Bau (the salarian spectre) die
don't talk to the female student on Grissom. She will die from her wounds

Conrad Verner dies because Jenna isn't there to help
Sabotage the genephage by shooting Paddok Wiks in the back. Don't do Turian Bomb causing Eve to die with other Krogan. Later on kill Wrex on the Citadel.
the Salarian Councillor dies because Kirrahe and Thane are dead

let Captain Aaron Summers kill the prisoner
on Rannoch pick the Geth(I could've made peace) letting the Quarians die and watch Tali commit suicide. Legion dies uploading the code.
let Anne Bryson die
shoot Brooks in Citadel dlc
let Samara kill herself and then kill Falere
let Oriana(Miranda's sister) and father die. Here's how to.
don't talk to Ashley when she's in the hospital, then shoot her and she will say "she hopes you go to he**". Here's the video. If you want to make it more interesting kill her while wearing Cerberus armor.
after saving the Volus Ambassador take the Volus fleet and ignore the Turian colony
don't talk to Steve, he will die in London
don't do the From Ashes dlc
let TIM kill Anderson
pick destroy causing the robot to fry along with the Geth

At the memorial scene I had Samantha, Joker, T'soni and James in attendance. I had over 3100 ems, so femshep isn't dead. On the wall I had both columns filled with names(48) and Anderson in the middle(49) and Kasuni and Zaeed were dead and their names weren't on the wall giving me 51 dead

I did a new game plus with the same charcter, but I went for low ems. James and T'soni were killed on the beam run(ems 1750-1900) and femshep dead when picking destroy. The memoral scene only had Samantha and Joker present. On the wall I had 50 names(including femshep) and 4 names not on the wall giving me 54 dead

If your ems is below 1750 the doors to the Normandy don't open.

That's what I did for that playthrough. Of course I could've done it different ways, but I'm content with this playthrough.

Never been able to bring myself to kill a majority of my teammates.

On some of my earlier playthroughs, I let Kirrahe die (didn't realize you could save him) in ME 1.  Almost always killed Kaidan.

I did kill all my teammates in Mass Effect 2 during the Suicide Mission, just to see how they died.  It made me too sad to try again in the third game.

I did a playthrough where I kill the majority of the team in ME2, but I'm always really bugged by the presence of all of their coffins aboard the Normandy, even if there should have been no way to retrieve their bodies from the Collector Base, so I only get a few killed in my alternate Shep.

I could never bring myself to kill (most) of the other squadmates. Most of the times it happens is due to incompetence on Shepard's part.

Although I always kill Wrex for the sake of the plot. Genophage plot is interesting with Wreav in charge, boring with Wrex.

I never did one because I saw no point(really what is the point?) and the one where I actually lost one was where mordin died by mistake in the suicide mission. Thats it. I just dont get it with some people trying to kill of all of their squad. For what purpose? So that you have less characters in the next game? A worse option? Less EMS ?

It adds replay value. For me anyways. You can have high ems and still have most of the squadmates killed.

Some of the story arcs are a lot more interesting with certain squadmates dead.

Wrex's and Legion's deaths make the Genophage and Rannoch arcs respectively a lot more morally ambiguous; Jack's absence from Grissom gives the whole mission a much darker and more sombre mood and storyline; Zaeed's and Kasumi's absences actually force Shepard to make (somewhat) hard choices; Thane's death precludes you from conveniently getting Salarian support if you don't sabotage the Genophage (and makes Kai Leng look somewhat competent if Kirrahae is dead as well); Jacob and Grunt don't really add much of anything to their respective missions, and neither really has a good excuse not to join Shep, so it's sorta convenient to let them die anyway.

A dead Grunt doesn't add a truckload of awesome to the Citadel DLC either! You monster...

:D

Dead Mordin is totally worth it though, which you seem to be missing out on. Padok Wiks might just be the coolest Salarian in the game:

Here's another one I did.

ME1

Ashley kills Wrex

Kirrahe and Ashley die

ME2

recruit all squadmates

Jack, Legion and Thane killed because no upgrades to ship

Garrus killed closing the door

Grunt killed escorting the crew

Samara carried away by seeker swarms

Zaeed killed as 2nd fireteam leader

Miranda and Jacob killed fighting human reaper

Mordin, Tali and Kasumi killed holding the line

Shepard dies

ME3 never happens. The cycle continues

I rarely kill any squadmates/companions (same in DA), it usually makes Shepard look like an incompetent fool

I killed Wrex once in ME1 (well, Ashley did it) to have a save file with Wreav. Hearing Wrex's and Eve's voices during the dream sequence made me feel sad about it though. I sometimes skip Thane's recruitement, but the only character I deliberately killed during the suicide mission was Tali. And I shot Ashley during the coup in one of my playthroughs because I wanted hear the crew reactions...but it was rather disappointing and I reloaded.

From what I've seen on youtube, most replacement characters are rather generic figures. Xen is entertaining and Padok Wiks is not bad. But the rest isn't really worth killing squadmates, imo.

I usually kill Ashley on Virmire, sometimes Wrex, and that's generally about it, I occasionally forget an objective and Kirrahee dies, on the SM I don't usually lose anyone, though I sell Legion to Cerberus fairly often, in ME3 the Geth VI gets bullets, and that's all that comes to mind immediately

I remember once upon a time by the end of my renegade playthrough of Mass Effect 2, I ended up with nobody but Grunt and Miranda. That got a bit... lonely? XD

Was back before the release of Mass Effect 3, so never got to see that move over to Mass Effect 3, which is unfortunate. Need to try and come out with only two squad members again, just for the sake of seeing how to carries over into the next game. All I can say is it would be a very lonely party in the Citadel DLC.

Wrex and Ash were killed at Virmire. I finished the sm with two squadmates. Zaeed and Jack.

Me3 Jack was not rescued. Zaeed I just ignored, seeing as it was impossible to stuff that short mission up.

James and Liara didn't survive the beam run. So that left Edi and I picked destroy.

I nearly forgot steve but he wasn't really a squad mate and he didn't make it either.

It was a bit of a weird game but worth it to see Hackett in charge of nothing at the end.

I saw something somewhere a while back where if you had a playthrough like those described in this thread and you did Citadel, you get the two Alliance soldiers who guard the war room to accompany you because there's literally no one else.  I wish there was a video of that.  I saw a quick snippet that I can't find anywhere now, and it was just depressing to me in a number of different ways.  And the party isn't a party, it's basically a memorial because there are like three people there.

Here's another playthrough that I've done.

ME1

Ashley dies on Virmire

ME2

recruit everyone

do all loyalty missions

upgrade Normandy

Garrus is killed while closing the door

ME3

don't recruit Javik

don't do Grissom. Jack will be killed on Chronos dressed as a Phantom

don't help the Salarian spectre, Jondum Bau, and Kasumi will die

shoot Mordin in the back

Thane will die during the coup

shoot Kaidan during the coup

don't do the missing Krogan scouts mission. Grunt's name will appear on the memorial wall after Chronos

don't rescue the ex-Cerberus scientists. Jacob's name will appear on the wall after Chronos

don't do the Monestary mission. Samara's name will appear on the wall after Chronos

Choose the Geth over the Quarians and watch Tali commit suicide and Legion dies uploading the code

let C-Sec kill Wrex on the Citadel

don't help the Volus Ambassador and Zaeed will die

don't tell Miranda about Kai Leng and she will die, don't give her access and she will die or pick the right dialogue and avoid the interrupt causing her father to kill her

James and Liara killed on beam run

edi fried when destroy is picked

I don't think it's possible because no matter when you play the citadel DLC, it takes place before the attack on Cronos station.. which means the ME3 crew will be alive: Liara, James, EDI, Joker, Traynor, Cortez. So there will always be someone at the party.

That is a party that will make me think killing Thresher Maws on foot was funner. I mean seriously, partying with Joker, EDI, Liara, and James? Sounds like hell.
