I'm on my first playthrough and am a Dwarven Ranger currently.  I plan to make him an assassin once the RTO issue is fixed (I've already done the necessary elf banging).  My plan for my party is going to involve making Leliana a ranger also and having her be an archer/bard/ranger.  Allistar/Shale and Wynne would finish out my party.

Does this party sound ok?  I had figured that while the enemy was dealing with my bear and leliana's wolf and my warrior tank, I could go around backstabbing at will.  This party also banks on my assumption that each ranger can summon an animal at the same time. 

Thoughts?  Advanced thanks for the input.

Note that summoned animals does not give party experience for anything they kill.

you can only have one summon out at a time, if I recall correctly.

So Leliana can't summon a bear and I can't have a wolf going at the same time?



I'm torn between whether I can get by with just one warrior or if I should make my rogue a duelist so he can kinda play the 2nd warrior role.



Was not aware of the no EXP from the animal, but my animals haven't been getting many of the kills so far.



First playthrough is for making errors anyways.

= not true, you see no numbers.. but they are added on you exp bar. Test it.



I think most party combinations can work well so this one too, no bad points. I'd just make sure to get Wynn an AoE and some CC

If you and Lelianna both summon animals, they both come. Theoretically, you could turn Zevran into a ranger and have three pets out. Which would actually be a lot of fun. If you summoned three spiders, they would get very few kills but do a heck of a lot of holding. All of your fights would be quite....sticky.

Should I stick with my first idea about going for Assassin, or should I go to Duelist since I'm not sure how well my pets will control the situation?



Spiders and assassin does sound really tempting though.
