Aldmer and the Nedes weren't "Giants" on that scale. The fact is that there's no reliable record of the physical properties of the Aldmer, and the only example of a Nede we've ever encountered in official ES lore is Tsun of Skyrim, though Shor's Throne is quite massive, Shor is technically a God (Elves call him Lorkhan).
The most reliable historical record of Nirn and Tamriel comes from Argonian lore which is kept as ancestral memories through the Hist, the original race of Nirn. I think that's why so many people are eager for a proper Elder Scrolls game to go to Black Marsh and explore the oldest surviving culture.
I'm not sure what significance the Talos picture is, Talos, who would become Emperor Tiber Septim at the end of the Second Era was actually a Breton from an Island off the cost of High Rock, like many leaders and despots, he appropriated a lot of legend and myth to serve his end. This is recorded quite well in in-game sources from TESII: Daggerfall, which is the most robust source of Game Lore. (It's only saving grace I believe)
Unfortunately, as much as I respect him, Kirkbride's contributions to ES lore are always unofficial until endorsed by Bethesda, so anything that hasn't appeared in an official source is for all intents and purposes, Fan Fiction. I think that term may do disservice to Kirkbride's unique position and History with the setting, as Fan Fiction is typically someone creating content in a setting established by others. I think out of respect, I'll call his contributions "Founder Fiction."
