I install this mod and I couldn't use lesser dispel in tutorial. You know, bonus quest about a hog? Anyway, I use both friendly and hostile version of this spell and nothing happened because hog was neither a foe or ally. I want to install this fix, because this mod doesn't add anything extra, so it isn't cheating, but I don't know would this cause any other problems.

It's this mod...

Should I install this mod or not? I remove it now, so I could finish the quest, but now I want it back.

I know the quest you're talking about, and I think you're safe to use it for the rest of the campaign, since I don't think there are any other quests in there that require a specific spell to be cast.  You might run into trouble with it if you play certain other modules that do look for specific spells, and/or change the way the spell works for their module.

I'm relieved. Hope you're right.

I don't know if it has any impact in this particular case, but have you tried changing the difficulty setting temporarily? NPCs who are "friendly" in normal mode are "neutral" in hardcore.

I don't think it's so much the reputation, Ark, as it is that SpellFixes (etc) change a spell entry to a master spell + subspells. I bet it's a similar problem to what we had with MetaPrepa, in that the master spell (eg. Prot. Align) is not recognized as legitimate -- only its subspells are. In Naeryna's case the OC is probably looking for Dispel Magic, while the Fixes have likely changed that to a master spell; while the true casts, as it were, have become "Area of Effect", "vs. Hostile", and/or "on an Ally"

or something very similar. They occupy different rows in the .2a, have different script constants, and further suffer in that the 'master' is no longer a real spell at all.

and i agree it's not likely to be a problem, or even too much of a little one ...

I need cast lesser dispel on a hog, and it isn't hostile or ally. It's neutral.

I know this is late to the party, but what they were explaining is that the Spell Fixes mod changed the "internal designation" of the Dispel Magic spell. And the game engine is coded to look for a spell that has the "original designation" for the Dispel Magic spell to be cast on the pig before it will advance the quest. So the Spell Fixes Dispel Magic version actually breaks that particular quest, because it's not being recognized as Dispel Magic by the game engine.

However, as kevL said above, there isn't any other quest that requires a specific spell to be cast, and the Spell Fixes version works fine for all other gameplay purposes, so it's just that one quest that is affected. You probably already have moved on from this point, but I just thought I'd translate what kevL said a little bit.

Hope this helps!
