They could probably come up with an in lore excuse to keep the Dragon Age going, if they wanted to avoid an artifact title.

Maybe Thedas comes up with a new calendar system at or before 9:99 Dragon and thus the age continues to be the Dragon Age?

I would very much like them to go with their own lore and change the name. It is my understanding that they intend 5 games (not a fact, just something I read on the boards here). I'd like, after game five, to have the world of Thedas continue to be used - but give the franchise its new age.

I think they'll end the series in 9:99 and we'll get a generic ending like " Do to the courage and sacrifice of thousands of men and woman of all the four races and from all the corners of the world that fought and prevailed against the dark forces that tried to destroy our very existence, Thedas can now rejoice while it enters a new age, a age of peace and free pizza."

I think Maria is probably right.
But I'll always think of it as the Nug Age after the Dragon Age ends.

-Sexy Age.
-Crap Age.
-New Age.
-After the Old God Baby's Death Age.
-Mages Suck Age.
-Templar Age.
-Templar Age Forever.
-Templar's Infinity Age.
They'll probably change it to "Never Forget the Dragon Age" though. I can see it now...
Never Forget the Dragon Age: Origins
Which will be the start of a new time-line taking place after the end of Inquisition. Subsequent titles will follow with new subtitles in place of "Origins."

The risk of doing that is a lot of casual fans will think DA no longer exists. They may lose a lot just by a title change. Obviously you and I wouldn't really care, but for a business standpoint the name "Dragon Age" has become a brand. Losing that title is risky.

You also are assuming the Chantry and the Divine is still around in 60 years. The ways things have been going lately, I doubt there will be any Chantry around to declare the next age.
They might just transition to some new form of Calendar by then.

what if they called the game "Thedas" with a tagline like referencing dragon age, such as Thedas "the next chapter in the dragon age saga"
then following games can just be Dragon age?
Legacy of kain is a prime example
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Soul Reaver 2
Blood Omen 2
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
thats all over the shop, legacy of Kain isn't even the main title of the first game that clearly is Blood Omen.
why not follow on from that next game Dragon Age: Thedas
the following game just "Thedas" (or what ever they intend to call it)

They'll keep it Dragon Age. Just like Baldur's Gate II was never in Baldur's Gate.
Pretty much this.

Pretty much this. In-universe, the Chantry decides the name of each Age. If the Chantry ceases to exist (or ceases to function in its historical capacity) within the next 60 years, then the Dragon Age will probably continue ad infinitum.

well they have about 3 games out of 10 years worth of ingame time. based on this current speed they can milk atleast another 18 games until drago age 9:99

True, but you have to remember that DA:O started in 9:30 and ended in, what, 9:31 or 9:32? DA2 started in 9:30 (9:31 if you're not counting the prequel mission) and ended in 9:40. Technically they could milk this one year at a time or, if they decide to go for a longer period of time, a decade or more at a time.
I think one of the producers actually said something about this (more in reference to the Grey Wardens) that when they wrote DA:O thirty years seemed like a good period of time, but then when they started writing material that followed Origins they realized how long thirty years could actually be.

Presumably, that system would work its way into records through cultural osmosis. Or it might even start at the top with the historians themselves, who knows.
