Hello everyone! I've installed DAO Toolset 1.01, but when I launch it, is says: "Unable to load the game engine DLL. This may be caused by the DLL missing, other required DLLs missing, or the wrong version of DirectX installed." I checked the toolset location and it has Engine.dll there. I also have DirectX 11 installed. Reinstalled the toolset, didn't help. Probably, some crucial DLLs missing, but which ones? Please, help me if you can.
Toolset not working (dll missing).

Did you install in the same location as the game? I have the game and toolset on a partition.

Origins doesn't use DX11. You need to install DX9. It's a common requirement on Windows Vista/7 (and I presume 8 as well) for older games as while 11 is backwards compatible in a basic sense, it lacks certain files from 9. There is no problem with installing 9 alongside 11. Either download the installer here - http://www.microsoft...ails.aspx?id=35 or use the redistributables included on the Origins CD (Direct X folder) or its Steam folder for that version (<Steam install dir>\steamapps\common\dragon age ultimate edition\redist).

I've installed DX9, but unfortunately it did not help. Any other ideas?

What operating system do you have? Did you try installing without virus scan active?

I have a similar issue, not the same exactly. I had the toolset installed prior to this but recently the icon of my Origins' shortcuts changed. And with it, I got a blank shortcut icon for the toolset (instead of the anvil looking icon). When I tried to click it I got a similar message, that the toolset path couldn't be found (Or had changed, I forget). Anyway I ended up having to uninstall it and reinstall it to my computer. Works fine now.
Perhaps some files got corrupted? Anyway, if uninstalling and reinstalling it doesn't work, not sure what you can do. Sorry. Just thought I'd suggest this since it fixed my issue.

I'll be reinstalling everything in the next month or so. Upgrading to Win7-64 bit. Adding a bigger graphics card... So, I am hoping it goes smooth and I don't have any problems.
I did reinstall the toolset once in Vista (ended up reinstalling the database also). the option to save the database just made the error unable to connect to it.
So now, I Backup the data base every week just in case ![]()
Run the
\Dragon Age\tools\DatabaseUtilities\Backup_Restore\Backup.bat

OK, it took me a long time to figure it out, but it's finally working! If someone encounters this problem, this is what helped me: you need 2 .dll files: PhysXLoader.dll and cudart32_41_22.dll - just google them and put them in your "tools" folder in the game directory.

Glad you got it working!!
I have 3 places for this file, but not in my Dragon Age/tools folder
C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Commo\PhysXLoader.dll
C:\Program Files\Dragon Age 2\bin_ship\PhysXLoader.dll
C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Mass Effect\Binaries\PhysXLoader.dll
I do not have this file anywhere on my system- cudart32_41_22.dll
I had installed the DAO Toolset 1.01 while running Vista, have since upgraded to Win7-32 bit (keeping all Vista settings and files)

okay, I recently upgraded from my nvidia 512MB to a 2GB ATI. After uninstalling the nvidia drivers, I got this same error for my game. missing PhysXLoader.dll
So, I had to re-install the Nvidia PhysX System Software to get my game to run. I should have tried to run the toolset also, but was busy and forgot to do it.

The exact same thing happened to me. I upgraded my video card a couple of months ago from a Nvidia 512MB to a 4GB ATI. Naturally, I uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers, and then subsequently freaked out when DAO stopped working. I found it utterly bizarre that I needed Nvidia software to run a game with my ATI video card. Fortunately, when I re-installed my DAO it loaded the Nvidia PhysX System Software itself. What a pain.
