I used the Bassrath Kata the most, but for me my favorite weapon based purely on aesthetics

How about you?

I'm sure we'll see most of the old return
I personally hope to see newer designs

oh yeah, I fully expect numerous brand new designs. I say at least 10 per weapon type. Maybe i'm expecing too much, but based on the size and scale of Inquisition I have high expectations for it.

Thing is, most weapons we've seen so far seem to be reused. Particularly in the case of mage staffs.
Considering the game is not too far away..I'm not too hopeful about breadth of new weapon design.
I liked the design of the AW sword in DAO

Other than that my favorite skins were the Darkspawn weapons.
The Rose's Thorn. It was extremely powerful in the hands of my dual wield rogue. And it cost 148 sovereigns. ![]()

The dwarven noble in me wants to get her hands on Ageless again.
Asala again. I quite liked that model in both DAO and DA2. It's got a good balance between cool, simplistic yet efficient design, and I like how relatively sleek it is for a greatsword. And it shows up on the DAO title screen, so it kinda feels like the sword to represent the series as a whole (the other sword was Cailan's sword... The Yusaris sword shares its model).

I liked the staves that didn't look too magey, like this one that looks like a pike. That along with the DLC clothing made a bit more plausible to play DA2 as a mage trying to go unnoticed while still looking vaguely like a mage.
In terms of pure coolness, Orsino's staff was very good-looking.
Surprisingly, I'm a little partial to the classic Dragon Age LARP sword. If they flattened it a bit it'd look absolutely great.
I don't have anything against DA:I reusing designs from other DA's necessarily, I just would expect any re-used designs to undergo the proper polishing and updating befitting the time and engine change. Like maybe scale them down a bit to look less comical. I have to admit from a few screenshots, most of the new weapons look refreshingly conservative.
The longsword version of Vigilance. I'd like to see Vigilance return just cause the lore and its connection to the Warden, but it also looks cool.
Starfang, Vigilance, Murder Knife
Probably Starfang.
I personally thought the Starfang Longsword (All the Keening Blade style swords actually) were too long. I don't really have a problem with the shape, except the point at the tip is kind of useless if you want to get technical about it, but the blade itself is just way too long for the size of the hilt.
To that effect, the title says weapon skins, but is this technically weapon skins? Most people (myself included) are leaning more toward the polygonal mesh of the weapons.
Always thought Chinese swords are vastly under-represented in the fantasy genre.

And they are not exactly lore-breaking either, being a straight sword with a grip and a small crossguard (unlike say, the very distinctive shape of a katana)
In fact, the standard dragon age longsword design does bear some resemblance to a chinese "Jian"
Otherwise, some redesign on the reused weapons to make them less like pancake-flippers would also be nice.
one of my favourite staff designs is "lamppost in winter" from awakening
and "stone's breath" from da2 (which is basically lamppost in winter upside down)

i really liked the crescent moon-like shapes on them so i hope we see more staves with similar designs
I like the "simple" weapons the most. No big spikes or over-sized dimensions. Simple, sleak, functional, please and thank you. My favorite two-hander was the Summer Sword used by Ser Cauthrien and other greatswords in DA:O and DA2 that share the same skin as the Summer Sword.

When it comes to one handed weapons I loved the Family Sword from the Human Noble origin the most.

Just wondering, do you agree with me about Asala? It also has a simple yet effective design, and is why I like it so much. I do agree with your examples btw. I really liked the Topsiders Honor sword and the basic Grey Warden swords, both of which shared its design

Asala is a bit too bussy for my taste. It is better than most greatswords for sure, but it still has a bit too much going on... sawtooth along the blade, different width of the blade, that it is chipped along the blade. I feel like a warrior would have thrown that blade away long ago since it is so battered. I just like symetrical, simple, well-kept weapons that look historically accurate.

I guess I see what you mean, the saw tooth thing is a little much.
Anyway, I realize my last post wasn't very clear. You probably understood my meaning anyway, but I still feel I need to correct it. When I said the Wardens Sword and Topsiders Honor swords shared its model, I meant the Cousland family sword's model... NOT Asala's.
Mostly i would like to see new weapon designs but there is one staff that i absolutely love.
*cough*
Nope, nothing comes to mind. ![]()
