Blurring the line between axe and sword. With that kind of balance and heft in the business end, those swords would probably be good for novice militia.

The blade-pommel thing that DA2 and to some extent DA:I seems to be fond of bugs me. It seems like the back end would cut your arm and torso up pretty bad just from normal use.

It's not exactly a blade-pommel, for me Finesse is like a double-edged sword - but in dagger. Rogues would use it cutting their enemies with the two sides, that's why it has two blades, if you watch the animations, they use it with such skill they don't touch themselves with it! and when they used it for stabbing, they would stab from above, so the blades never touch their skin (don't know if I explained it well or I just confused everyone - I certainly am - I could describe it easier in Spanish haha)

I actually prefer simple, basic, but well designed weaponry as a rule, like the dagger 'Tooth of the Mountain Father' seen here:

Oh and I nearly forgot:

The "Edge of Song and Glory" sword, if only for the reason that it is the same model as the one used in the DAO trailers.

Another vote for the Warden Sword, which I always regard as THE iconic weapon of the Dragon Age series:

dragon-age-epee-grey-warden-epic-weapons

It combines a very aesthetically pleasing fantasy design with functionality, making it a win-win imo.

Seeing as it appeared in the "Fires Above" trailer, I say there is a very good chance of seeing this sword in DAI. Lets just hope that the design is tied to a better/more powerful weapon this time than DAII's Edge of Song and Glory.

I used the Bassrath Kata the most, but for me my favorite weapon based purely on aesthetics

How about you?

I admit I do have a soft spot for this sword... ;)

Vigilance is another one I like...

... as well as Voice of Velvet.

Is the implication that double-edged (Twinblade) swords are any less silly? Because I would disagree. They're ridiculous designs and on a real battlefield, anyone using them would be killed thoroughly by all but the 14 year-old peasant conscript using a pitchfork.

This is why I love mods. It creates a good user-defined barrier between me and ridiculous junk like that. If only we could put Hayder's Razor back there too...

I can relate that you may not find some designs alluring to your aesthetical preferences, but denoting something someone has put considerable effort into designing as "ridiculous junk" is ignorant.

Like you said, it's entirely up to you if you want it or not. But there's absolutely no necessity at all to throw around insults. We have already established that some people do like it (like me) and others don't (like you) and any reasonable person would leave it at that!

I forgot the Rule#8792 of the Internet: Everything is up for scrutiny and criticism... Except Mods! People worked hard on those and they're optional/free you big meanie!

To that effect, I have to say I've been really disappointed with Dragon Age's Mace options so far, which sucks because Maces tend to be my favorite weapon class.

Saying something is "ridiculous junk" isn't criticism. If you had given specific reasons why you think it's "ridiculous junk", THEN it would have been criticism (albeit still an unecessarily unfriendly a way to judge it).

But I get the distinct impression that you simply do not possess a refined understanding of such subtle differences. Going with that, I'll just reiterate my point about ignorance and leave you to whatever response you illusion yourself to be a witty comeback.

Have a good day and may you never need use such ignominious modifications.

I really like that one. It's obviously fantasy-ish, but it could also easily be used as an actual weapon, unlike many, many other models in the series that would be useless outside of a design student's wet dream.

that must be some cheese to need a dagger/knife like that to be sliced.

reminds me a bit of a roman gladius.

Simpler the better in my book. I vastly prefer when the design is much more inline with real world designs and standards. When weapons get so overblown in size and adornment I just get pulled right out of things. Keep it simple and make them unique with subtle design and ornamentation. Putting a handle on a giant slab of steel or making a blade that goes in six different direction and has a saw tooth pattern doesn't make it cool in my book. Also double bladed daggers look really stupid. This is Dragon Age, not the Daedric Age, please don't take inspiration from the ugliest weapon set in the history of TES.

Give me stuff that is the same quality as the Edge of Song and Glory and the Magister's Staff and I will be incredibly happy.

I intend to craft a new signature weapon for the Inquisitor in my games, although I hope we can gain a crafting template for a "legendary" weapon, a la Starfang and Vigilance.

On that note, I'd love to see Starfang return. I miss that sword.

those would look fine in Monster Hunter or Devil May Cry, but god I hope not in Dragon Age: Inquition.

99% of weapons in Dragon Age II was dumb enough.
