I remember reading that the human noble is a free marcher. It would make sense for a noble from Kirkwall to be at the meeting between the mages and templars, would it not?

I don't think it's too likely that Trevelyan will be from Kirkwall. BioWare will probably want to have some distance between the Inquisitor and Hawke.

There's a possibility but I much rather have the human noble from Starkhaven or Tantevale or Markham so we can get more information about those cities.

I certainly hope not. There are dozens of other cities in the Free Marches to learn about.

Maybe he was chased out of his home by a celibate know-it-all with a bow and arrow.

You mean that guy who came in ranting about taking over the city and building an army to attack another city?

Nah his cousin had him locked up.

(Poor Sebastian..I just can't see him actually managing to take over without Hawke)

Probably not.

As a noble or mage, the human Inquisitor from Kirkwall would be too tied in with the events of DA2. Since DA:I will need to be accessible to players who may have never touched DA2, the Inquisitor probably isn't going to know Hawke, or have direct experience with the Qunari troubles or the beginnings of the Mage-Templar War there. There are no doubt going to be dialogue options that open up some exposition on what took place in prior games, and it will probably be played with the Inquisitor not having direct knowledge of the events. "You speak of the Mage-Templar War. Didn't that start in Kirkwall?" "Hawke killed the Arishok in single combat? I thought that was just a tall tale..." Ect., Ect.

It could be that the Inquisitor is a member of one of the "noble families" of Kirkwall, they just weren't in Kirkwall for whatever reason(like how only Renden Howe's youngest son was the only one in Ferelden for Origins, and the few years prior to Origins).

It's a possibility, but I would prefer a human noble Inquisitor to be from one of the other cities of the Free Marches...

Yeah, they could have been from Kirkwall originally but were sent like Nathaniel to another city for whatever reason. Or if they are a Mage, weren't even in the Free Marches at all, having been sent to another Circle. I highly doubt they'd have been sent to the Gallows, although it'd be a nice connection if they were a survivor.

Or they could be from another city entirely, since we know relatively little about Tantervale, Ostwick, etc.

I don't think it's too likely that Trevelyan will be from Kirkwall. BioWare will probably want to have some distance between the Inquisitor and Hawke.

Yet they chose Cassandra and Varric as two very important companions for DA:I.

If they wanted to distance the Inquisitor from Hawke than they would have made new characters, not bringing in Hawke's best buddy and #1 Fangurl.

See Han Shot First's post for a description of what I meant when I used the word "distance."

I actually think it's rather likely. We know what Kirkwall's like. We know it's culture and it's social structure. We know it's districts, we know it's architecture. We don't really know Starkhaven that well, or any of the other Marcher cities that I don't even know the name of. Being from Kirkwall, we have a better idea of what our characters mentality and history would be. We'd have a very general idea with any other city, but Kirkwall gives us a very concrete idea of the environment that shaped us.

Being from Kirkwall also gives us a personal stake in one of the game's story arcs, which is always helpful.

*crosses fingers for Starkhaven*

It would be unfair for Bioware to give us a major character from a city then not give us any more connection or info. They haven't said if Sebastian is in the game or not, but I would still very much like to see more about Starkhaven; it's the largest city in the Free Marches.

Sort of like Hawke being a Ferelden in DA2.

Actually, I think we'll be able to choose this part of our background via dialogue.

I'd like it if the human inquisitor was from either Kirkwall or a major city in Ferelden that we've been to in DA:O - mainly because it gives us a background we're a bit familiar with. I know what life in Ferelden and Kirkwall is like, based on playing the previous games - I don't really know what it's like everywhere else. So it makes imagining my character's life before Inquisition easier.

It would be weird if he was from kirkwall when there was no mention or appearance of him/her in DA2.

Hope not, Then my PC might catch w/e was in the water in Kirkwall that made everyone stupid and insane.
I'd be happy with any City-State but Kirkwall, hopefully Tantervale or Starkhaven though since they are the most powerful.

Is that a Conan the Destroyer reference? Isn't that the relationship that Zula, Akiro, and Malik argue about as they are sneaking into the city through the sewers?

I wouldn't mind if they were, but I don't expect them to be.
