I WANT WATER SPELLS.
In the future they may expand on the primal school to incorporate more elemental magics. Or it will be part of a spec.
For example, avvar shaman using wind spells. Id like to see lava/volcanic powers.

I've actually always loved wind type spells. They are so deceptive. One of the Richard Rahl books has a dude chopped in half from an invisible wind blast, was awesome.

On the other hand, being slightly more restricted means they can focus on class and spec specific reactivity in the game many fans have wanted.
I understand, but one thing doesn't nullify the other ![]()

As someone who prefers playing a healing and crowd control mage I'm going to be seriously bummed if the creation tree is really removed entirely...I hope there's still some support magic.

If you wanted to go there, it's easy to combine elements for that. Earth + Fire -> Lava. The only "element" that's really missing is wind.
Come on, didn't anyone play Magicka?

It will not be happening, I am sorry to say.

From the Kotaku article, we know that there are 21 skill trees in total. Since we have three classes, that means we have 7 skill trees each for mages, warriors and rogues. Additionally, since there are three specializations for each class, that leaves each class with 4 class talent skill trees and three specialization trees.
So we went from 6 non-specialization trees to 4. Yeah... That sucks. Feels like this series just keeps getting simpler. Considering 2 of those 4 trees are weapon trees for rogues and warriors, that leaves warriors and rogues stuck leveling just their weapon tree and 2 other trees and their specializations. Talk about dumbing down.

The actual number of abilities is the same or greater than DA2 apparently so the abilities may be there just each tree has more abilities. My issue with mages is that naming trees inferno and Winter implies all abilities in those trees are fire and ice.

So unimpressed with the way magic in DA "seems" to be going (don't know how DA:I will really take it).
Do I really need: "Blast with lightning." "Blast with Fire" "Blast with Energy" "Blast with Evil." and of course "Blast with Cold" (cheap way of doing water)?
And they're not even the creative elements... like water or wind.

To be fair, Storm of the Century in DA:O was kinda wind and water made from ice and thunder -- the cold debuff effects from Blizzard were foregone in favor of more electricity damage in the "storm".
