Most of the SMG challenge is painful. The SMG class is so poor by comparison with everything else.

 

One real value is as emergency secondary weapons, since with ULM + HVB, the Tempest and Locust add like 3% to your cooldown. The Hurricane and BPP are about 8%, don't recall the rest.

 

I know it's not the best SMG, but the one I enjoy most is the Locust. Extended mag or heatsink, HVB, and cryo ammo with the Salarian Engineer gives 200% cooldowns (and adding an Acolyte with ULM doesn't ruin it much, if at all) and you can shoot all round without worrying about ammo, and the ammo application of the cryo is very effective. Shoot, reload, cast, shoot, cast, dodge, shoot etc. You won't top score but you can have some simple and rapid gameplay, and soloing an Atlas is easy with this setup.

I use SMGs quite often, but very rarely as a primary weapon. When I do, I like Tempest or BPP Tsent.

Collector SMG (CSMG) on the Human Sentinel. That's a build I frequently take into Platinum matches. Because I hate running to ammo boxes on Platinum.

 

Warp ammo, or Incendiary if I feel like abusing that + Warp (the power).

Hurricane on TSent. Tempest on TSol or GI. BPP on GE (but only if I get Reapers, else it's BPE).

I read that as Tempest Durian. As a result, I am now reading your name as TheTechnoDurian, which sounds like an intriguing cocktail if not necessarily a rock band.

I personally could never get past the smell of the Durian. I work(ed) in a produce department, so me and a co-worker cut one open to try it and it's certainly... unique, to say the least.

 

Back on topic, my favorite is the Fury with a hurrdurricane. I wish I could use the CSMG but I've never got it past level 2.

Hurricane and CSMG are pretty good on everything.

 

BPP is good on anything with MM or accuracy increasing powers but takes a little more consumables to make the most of. Probably best fit is the Turian Soldier.

 

Tempest is pretty decent on everything as well. Becomes a bit lackluster when you get the Hurricane but what doesn't.

 

Locust works well on the MM kits or on an adept with stasis vulnerability spec. Stack up the headshot gear and equipment.

 

Shuriken works well on the airlock.......not kidding.....throw that damn abomination in the shitter and flush multiple times.

I like the Locust with my Human Engineer. I will try the CSMG when I get enough levels on it. It's stuck at IV, IIRC.

 

 

(Oh and don't play a human engineer after playing an infiltrator. You'll keep dying the first wave or so and wonder why the enemy sees you coming.)
