Corypheus and the Tevinter mages entering the black city worshipped Dumat the dragon of silence. Corypheus says Dumat led them to the black city but it was already black.

The blight and its calling is through dialogue and lore refered to as a song. This isnt just a metaphor, Bartrand for example in DA:2 specifically call it the song. If something gets corrupted - seeing if they become the opposite of their essence, silence would become song/sound. Just as day becomes night and light becomes dark etc.

My theory is that:

X tricked the magisters to enter the golden city, posing as Dumat.

X is the most powerful fade demon and could be Fen'Harel himself OR Fen'Harel tricked them into the prison working with said demon.

*The black city was a prison for the most powerful demon in the entire fade.

*Said demon corrupted Dumat and his followers.

Dumat is said in the lore to be the first archdemon. Either this is wrong or the demon of the black city/prison stole Dumats power. The corrupted version of Dumats essence of silence is the power of song/sound.

The demon in the black citadel/prison uses Dumats power to create the blight.

Bottomline: I dont think there is a coincidence that there is countless references to the blight being a song/sound which influences, and the opposite of silence (the very essence of Dumat, the first corrupted) is song/sound.

Thoughts?

i think you're on many things, but in all seriousness its my opinion that we will never truly find out.  bioware always does a good job of teasing certain things, but making sure they are just vague enough to never have to reveal it and spoil the lore.  We will never find out who or what the maker is, i doubt we will find out what flemeth really is (though this one is more plausible than the maker), I dont think we will see any of the gods (ie fen harel etc.), and Gaider is adamant that sandal isnt anything other than a running gag.  Bioware wont spoil their lore by revealing all powerful entities into the world, other than the arch demons

Bertrand is talking about red lyrium, not the blight. The Fade and lyrium has a song. The blight could just be a dark version of the Fade, not related to Dumat at all.

It's all theory with no hard evidence. It's a nice thought/theory, though.

This is nice theory but I don't think there is any hard evidence that would support it.

I think the song heard by the Darkspawn is similar to the song heard from lyrium, but they aren't the same song.

But why would the other archdemons corruptions not mot manifest? Also X would not have access to Dumats power, since he died at the end of the first Blight.

I didnt get into enough details yet. Im still trapped in the lore web. It seems that for each step forward there is one step back aswell.

The devs has been very clever with the lore. Nomatter how many clues and how much info there is - there is never enough to claim a fact. How the writers manages to give as much clues and info like they have without accidentally giving away something is beyond me :P

It's because they like to give general info, conflicting info, or confusing info. The only for sure info is that the blight corrupts and would leave the world a wasteland if allowed.

And that's really all we can know :)

When it comes to Cory he clearly has been able to dig around others minds so why would he not lie to the Wardens to undermine their beliefs. If he is one of those original Magisters then he sacrificed 1/3 of the empires slaves to enter the fade. At that point you are already willing to do whatever for power. He could of watched the Golden city turn black but why say that?

That is the good thing and what is the draw about the world is that it is so questionable. Those that are invested or sitting on the edges of their seats wanting to know what is what.
