Rogues (only in black)
Warriors
Mages
I dislike showing my characters face, and I hate it when cutscenes removes the headpiece. Why?
Not showing your face is mysterious, intimidating, menacing and gives a feeling of authority and domination. Revealing your face only shows the one seeing you as a human being, a mortal. A mask, hood or full helmet is more sinister. It gives a feeling of power and superiority in my mind.
For people that like to wear headgear vs showing their face, if this was a measurement in far left to far right - would probably make me the more leftist person on this forum. Revealing your face is a sign of submission and weakness in my eyes. Logic behind it? Cant really explain it ![]()

You do realize that hiding your face has also said to be cowardly and weak. The truly powerful don't need to hide.

Difference of opinions I guess. Another benefit of hiding your face is that your enemies cant read your facial expressions. Great for manipulating people on the inquisition! When your enemies can read your face they can read your emotions. If they can read your emotions it can be harder to lie and to deceive them.
Also imo - as an inquisition leader, you are not only a person. You're a symbol, an avatar, a representation of an ideal or ideology and its purpose. For good or evil characters, I simply feel that showing your face ruins the authority you need to enforce.
Again, feel free to disagree it is simply my opinion ![]()

Got to say that I really love the Inquisitor 'dragon helmet'. You can see the face of the Inquisitor, but it still looks believable as a protective helmet. The design itself is very cool as well. Simple, realistic, but also beautiful and well crafted.

What kind of hat would you like your Inquisitor to wear? Do you prefer a full helmet with face guard or do you prefer something a bit more reliant on magic for protection?
For me I want to see my character's face and hair. I do like it if the item in question does something to convey the Inquisitor's authority. So a crown or tiara is fine. Now for a qunari what I would really like is some kind of horn decorations. Perhaps silver strands that are imbedded in the horns themselves.
What I'd love to see is a hat like the one shown in my avatar picture (basically the widebrimmed puritan hats). Failing that ... a plain hood (cloth or leather). If neither is an option, I sure hope for the ability to toggle headwear off (per character preferably).

Something with wings. My favorite is the helmet of the Gondorian Fountain Guard.

It's funny that there have been few head pieces in game that I've paid attention to in DA1 and DA2. Personally, I use the "no helmet" feature because I like to see my character in game while I play along. I'll have to say the best head pieces I've seen have been for heavy armor users. There have been just a few for the mages and less for the light weight armors. I could be wrong as I don't play attention to anything, but stats. I am hoping this time around they'll really give a nice focus on the armors with stats and looks together.
From what I've seen in the videos so far, DA3 just may pull it off. Still to date I haven't seen what's going to be available for crafting. The good thing is, what I've seen has been pretty nice and detailed. The heavy armor helmet that a charcter Mike Laidlaw showed off looked awesome! I don't think anyone is going to argue that Vivienne's attire isn't really stylish. These are just things to show that the ability to have gear looking head gear as well as other gear might be very possible. I'm hoping the crafting system is something that will blow us away. I don't think they want to show it off too much as to spoil it for us. Here's to hoping, right?

That freakin' hat is awesome. Like a medieval fedora. I'm going to have to have a rogue Inquisitor and call him 'Indiana Inquisitor' just because of that hat.

I always use circlets ( if available) or not use any head gear. I like to see my PC face.

But helmets can be amazing too, especially great helmets, close helmets and armets.

In DA:O I only ever used one Headpiece for all my characters and that was... "Hide Helmet Mod".
Not sure if I used a mod or it was just a toggle in DA2, but I used it there as well.
Sorry, but I don't spend an hour creating my characters face just to slap something over it.

I really hope they bring back those dworky mages hats from DAO, only with extra 80s glamour like poms poms and pipe cleaner teeth. Then I can put them on my companions if they annoy me, or if they get really emo-serious about themselves (which is pretty much the same thing).

For me it depends on the character I'm playing, although I have to say that hat the mage Inquisitor is shown wearing is crazy awesome, wonder if they have something similar for a rogue too?

I agree. It was a bit tiresome how in the previous installments when someone was wearing a helmet that should be quite visible to identify facial features, you only saw eyes or simply a dark shadow. Naturally this would most likely have to do with the engine, but I am glad that this time around it is not a problem and you can have the helmet on during cutscenes.
